Fuel/Oil Railcar Capacity?
Hi all,

I just encountered something unexpected. I've been running fuel into town with trucks. I finally got tired of having to maintain so many trucks for just carrying fuel, so I decided to upgrade to a train with 8 fuel cars.

With 8 fuel cars I can only transport 12 units of fuel total. It says I have capacity for 84 units of crude oil, but I can only carry 12 fuel. This seems very strange since a single pickup truck could carry 8 units by itself. That means two really old trucks could carry more than a freight train with 8 railcars.

Is this bug?

I imagine you have the wagons on automatic possibly, so they will default to crude oil, until you collect enough fuel to fill the cars. Then it changes from crude to fuel.

I'm not loading any crude. I have another train dropping off crude at this refinery. My new train is only picking up fuel. But for 8 railcars, the capacity is only 12 units total, whereas when transporting crude oil, those 8 cars would carry 84 units.

Two pickup trucks can carry 16 units of fuel, so it doesn't make any sense unless it's a bug with the fuel railcars.

SMH...

Until you fill your whole train wagons default to crude oil. When there will be enough fuel to fill the whole train they will change to fuel.

Ok guys, it just pulled in and got the entire load of fuel this time. The numbers changed to show 84 capacity for fuel.

I was just nub confused.

Thanks for your help!

I don't know what is happening then without a screenshot as depending on the year, each car is capable of carrying 7, 12, 15 + EACH.
If it is telling you a capacity for crude oil and the train is only for Fuel, once again, I think you have it set to automatic loadings which means it will default to crude until the wagons fill up, in other words, you only have up to 12 units of fuel ready to transport currently, when you have enough to fill another car, the capacity will switch from crude oil to fuel. Another option is to send the train back to the depot and select cargo as fuel only, this will then show your true capacity.

Deit, you guys bothe replied again, whilst I was typing this lol

Whan you buy trucks / wagons with the cargo type set to AUTO, it will show the first cargo in the list on the wagon..

e.g.

Crude Oil - 84

but as you fill up it will change to look like

Crude Oil - 76
Fuel - 8

Until you completly fill up the wagons, it will alway show some crude oil as that is the first one in the list.

trucks I think it says Logs as that is the first one in the list of cargos.

You can however when buying the wagons / trucks specify a cargo type if you don't want it to pick up anything else - e.g. just fuel -but the problem with this is if you decide to pick up crude as well you have to go back to the deport and change them.
