Cannot start the game without an internet connection
Last night my router decided to cut me off the internet just the second before i restarted the game. Steam says you have no access to your cloud data, and will probably lose your progression but you can still hit "start game".
Then the menu screen is popping out with the music in the background, but you cannot do anything. No button is clickable and you can just leave the game with the help of the taskmanager. Tryed it several times. Even restarted steam and the whole pc.
Is this supposed to be like this?

This was the same in train fever. If the game can not connect to steam (steam servers down or no internet) it will not allow you to play beyond the main menu. i presume this is to go against pirating

Relaunch steam in offline mode if you can, that will allow you to play without an internet connection.

If i'm already offline, i cant switch to offline mode in steam. Says it requires intenet connection to verify my account once.

Thanks for your answer. I guess that won't prevent people from pirating the game but will just lead to honest people having more trouble to play the game under certain circumstances.
But thanks anyways... if its not a bug i know how to handle it...

I played 5 hours in aforementioned offline mode without any problems on Wednesday.
Btw not even my total playing time counter was affected when that steam installation went online afterwards.
So whatever you're facing is some other problem.
All your steam games which don't require a 3rd party DRM and aren't MP only will play just fine in steam's offline mode

Yes, that works, but you need an internet connection to switch steam into offline mode.
That means, if you all of a sudden lose connection, you cannot boot steam into offline mode and so you cannot play most of the games...
That doesn't happen so often though, so its not a big of a deal for me... I just thought it might be a bug and needs to be reported.
Oh and btw... As you can see in one of those troll threads, there is a guy who have refunded the game and plays now a pirated version instead. So that "requires connection to play feature" in TF and TpF might not be as effective in order to stop people from playing the game without buying ;)
