How to unlock 1:5 huge maps?
In Beta stage i saw some testers using a huge 1:5 map. I would like to ask is it a mod or what to do?

Go to the settings.lua, there you can change to get the tiny and huge maps (its located in your Userdata -> (number) -> number of the game (I think something with 44, just try different folders until you find the settings.lua

You will need a monster PC for it :)

This is an experimental map size, hidden by default just because of the reason that it might not work 100% for everyone.

Is there any chance in the future that the devs will add this experimental feature in to the game by default?

I don't know...

Similar experience here, except I don't get crashes when I try. Started a number of games on huge and mega in my experimenting and I found that the maps were bugged near the narrow ends if I used 1:3 or longer. The bugs were mostly in the form of strange cliffs cutting across rivers, or missing cities and industries.

Any map I made on 1:2 or 1:1 was fine and plays well. Don't even notice any significant loss in performance, even on my 5 year old laptop. Not saying it will be the same for everyone - but maybe worth a try for anyone who want to play on huge or mega.

Doubt it, but what is the point now you know it's there - If you use the option and your game is constantly crashing, then don't blame the devs - it's experimental!

Once people stop trying to run the game on the potatoes then maybe they might add it later.

was this ability patched out? I cannot enable the extra map sizes....found the appropriate file, made the change, saved, exited. Started game. No new maps.

deleted the settings.lua file. Ran integrity check, restarted game to recreate settings file. Changed settings file.....saved....still no new map sizes.

Attempted same on laptop. No new map sizes. :-(

The bare map is probably not too taxing on the machine, but once you develop it with 100's of trains and thousands of road vehickes, your pc will know the meaning of pain.

Yeah...I found the file without any issues....make the changes. Save the file. Run the game. No new map sizes :(

Tried on both laptop and desktop --- tried uninstalling/clearing and reinstalling. Nothing brings up the new map sizes :-/

Uh, guys, I cannot seem to locate the file/file folder no matter what I try. It's like it's not even there...
