"Industrialist" Achievement
Just double-checking. Description says "service all industries". I infer this means that each individual industry location on the map (even that 7th extra plastics factory on the other side of that map-edge lake & mountain) must be connected with an operating line? Not merely that each type of industry is served. I'm also assuming that raw material sources are included as well, not just the actual processing industries. Correct?

Correct. I recomend using a custom map or the tiny size experimental map if you want to make it much easier.

Myself, I kind of inadvertantly cheated this achievement. I downloaded someones save file in order to diagnose a problem they were having with production and it turned out to be a custom map with no randomly placed industries, only industries placed by the player, which he had made connections to hem all. So I ended up getting the achievement the moment I loaded up the map.

lol that's kinda funny. I guess somewhat exploitable as well...folks could just trade files. Would be pointless though. I just like doing them as "change of pace" in between or as a goal during main sandbox playthroughs.

Just did Glacier Express. Not very difficult with an easy 1950 start. But fun. :-)

The one of which I'm most apprehensive is the 300kmh. I've read that it's pretty difficult to get TGV up to its max speed. Saw one fella's screenshots that looked more akin to a rollercoaster game than a train title. Hope that's not really necessary (that might've been Train Fever, though; can't remember). My plan is to go with a 1x3 flat map, go as straight as possible between opposing corners, and see how close it gets.

I deffinitely had trouble in Train Fever regarding the TGV reaching top speed. On a medium size map, medium hilliness map (but the line it's self was quite flat), traveling from practically one corner of the map to the opposite corner. I think it topped out at around 275kph about 2/3rds of the way along before having to start slowing down for the station.

But I think the devs adjusted the way the TGV works, and trains in general perhaps, so they don't require such an absurd gap between deccelerating and coming to a full stop. I was playing on a small 1:2 map with Transport Fever, and just covering the distance between 3 towns in a row the TGV was able to reach around the 285kph range. So even on that map I'm sure I could have gotten it to 300kph had I gone from corner to corner.

So although it is a bit of a challenge to get it to top speed, it is notably easier than it was in Train Fever.

Regarding top-speed:
If you just want the achievement, make a climb uphill and a long slope downhill...

Industrial just requires them to all go to 'Yes'. Once you got to a billion dollars you can pause and make long lines connecting anything not connected to something that matches. The lines can have just an engine and one or two cars. Let it run and eventually they will each go to Yes. If one is literally across the map from everything that uses it you might need to break the route up into hubs. In fact, if you are doing a hub-based industry delivery already it makes this even easier as you just hook them in to the nearest hub and it should work itself out.

Naturally, once you get the achievement you'll probably want to just reload as they are unlikely to make money. But they might in certain maps, so your mileage may vary.

Why bother with a climb? Why not just start one end up high and the other end down low? Unless you meant the climb was one direction and the downhill was the other direction.

That's how I read it :)

Industrialist also requires that each industry has the line connected status to "Yes". I ended up having a series of 8 industries (small map) that kept flipping on and off...was annoying but I got it eventually.

300kpm is best completed with a large, flat 1:3 map. Straight line from almost one end to the other, combine the sound barrier achievement.

Not too worried about 300kph now, having done the EU 6 mission. TGV actually hit 300kph, and the route isn't really that long compared to what one could build on a large 1:3. Didn't pop the achievement, but I assume it has to be done on freeplay (which makes sense). I guess the TGV top speed comments I'd read earlier were indeed Train Fever specific.

I did my Industrialist achievement while going for road vehicle only achievement game. Simply pop cargo terminals to both ends, and buy enough trucks to keep them active =).

I did the same thing.

Finally popped the 300kph achievement. Used large 1:3 map...but the route was only about halfway; could easily have done it on a 1:2. As it turned out, the hard part wasn't really finding a long enough route, but rather laying the track straight and level enough to avoid slowdowns along the way. Heh, just because the speed-limit overlay says a piece of track supports 300kph don't necessarily make it so. Seems pretty clear that overlay only accounts for curve angles, but not elevation changes or effects of rail junctions.

There's no need, I had 300kph on a small 1:1 map, with a line on only one side of the map (no hill, no corner)... from south to north or north to south... as long as the line is {mostly} straight (minimize the curvatures but you can still have a slight curvature), it'll just go up to 300kph.
