Game freezes every few minutes for 5 seconds
Game freezes every few minutes for 5 seconds, does anybody else have this issue?
It's not the autosave, but it freezes in between the autosaves.
I have no other programs running, and I have a gaming laptop ASUS ROG752VY with NVIDIA GEFORCE 980M 4GB graphics card.
Any ideas?

I get something similar at the end of each month.Presumably when it updates the income/expenditure figures.

Just for my information, is that a Republic of Gamers laptop? I haven't tried the game on my laptop yet and I'll be going home in a few weeks so I'll be wanting to play it then.

Turn your autosave off

My game also freezes often. The game becomes almost non-playable by this. Wen it freezes, I can not move the mouse. Sound is still okay. I then have to break off transportfever.exe with the taskmanager.
I already have downsized the settings. Haven't yet turned off the auto save. Will try that but I suppose the poor perfcormance is due to the fact that this game is not optimized. I sincerely hope that the new patch wich is pending, will cover this.

Same thing was with Train Fever. Game calculates everything ones a month. City expansion due to players actions, industry expansions, updates the roads, builds new buildings etc. etc. This is the thing what causes that little stop after every month especially in the later game when cities are bigger. This was supposed to be fixed, but as we all can experience, it's not.

Which means that they propably are not capable of fixing the issues and instead just piled stuff on top of the previous game engine.

If you have such lags every MONTH then something is wrong. I did not experience this issue with my laptop at all, so the behavior of the month-calculation of TF is not that present in TPF.
The 5 second lags are happening every YEAR with the default setting of autosave you can see it displayed at the top bar saying "Autosave" exactly at the time the lag happens.

My suggestions to the devs would be though to couple the autosave not on ingame time but on the playing time. It does not make sense to auto-save every year while you are on max speed. But also the autosave will NEVER occur if you are building in pause mode which is bad since in case of a crash a lot of progress in building might get lost (which the autosave tries to avoid).

One way to minimize the end of month lag is to disable the debit/credit notifications. Use the ! button, left of top center. Uncheck the last two $ options. I usually turn of debits and leave credits on since there are far fewer and they occur at any time.

Yes thats correct :)
It's an awsome series from ASUS, and my ROG752 runs games as The Witcher 3 smoothly on high and ultra settings. I would guess that game is much more demanding than Transport Fever.

I have tried turning settings down and turn off auto-save, but still it freezes at the end of every month. My graphics cars has the latest driver, and I free up memory every now and again.

I wish to think it's something to do with the game and not my computer.

Yes, it's definitely the game and not the system. The engine is still poorly optimized to be honest. Even on my desktop, it still freezes for a second or two at the end of the year.

I also have these crashes. I have found that instead of running "windowed" picking a resolution helps. Also turning off auto save helps. However turning off autosave does not fully fix the crashes so you can lose hours of play if you forget to save. I did :(

What is the point of the necro? And yes, on larger maps disabling autosaves is in general a good idea, as it may crash the game depending on what were you doing at the time.
