How to find out when to replace wagons?
As far as i know there is no way to see the age of a wagon without sending it to a depot to dismantle each wagon into a seperate 'train'.
Everything related to train age is a bit weird. I just replaced a locomotive but still the age shows up as 31 years. Probably because of the wagons?

Probably you did not replace the engine and you sold the new vehicle maybe some mixup... I've never had a problem with upgrades either in Train or Transport Fever, best way to replace is either to auto replace using the route panel or alternatively while your old train is still on it's way to depot pause and buy a new train both engine and wagons.

Put the train in the depot and move each wagon to a new train using the up/down icons and then interrogate its details... move things around, buy, sell etc... best to do this while paused.

the age of a train is always the age of the oldest part of the train. That it's a wagon, a locomotive...
And for me I replace all parts at the same time so the age of a wagon is the age of a loco

Just replace the whole thing. You get money back for each part, scaled based upon how old it is. More money for newer cars, less money for older cars.

I always replace my vehicles, especially trains, at 50% mark. That is when you still get high enough price for it and you maintenance costs haven't gone up that much. Compared to replacing at 100% age, i save quite a bit of money.
