Steel Mill not producing Steel
Greetings all, just getting familiar with the game in the Free mode. I am building just trucks and truck stops, and am having problems getting the steel mill to work. I am delivering iron ore to it as well as coal, and when I click on the steel mill, it says there's always some stored. It is producing slag, but no steel. It says there is 43 steel "stored" though but my steel lorries always go away empty, while the slag gets picked up. Is there something I should be looking at? The tutorial isn't really comprehensive enough.
Thanks in advance!

You should check that the trucks carry steel and the truck stops at each end are in range of the factories , that steel is going to make tools/machines or goods assuming no steel has ever been produced . The way TpF1 works with slag as a 'by product' of steel if you don't get the steel working soon the slag will stop .

If you still can't get it screenshots of either end of the steel route may help.

You need to set up a end line. For example the steel mill won't produce steel until it has somewhere to go, so once you set up a line from the steel mill to a machine factory, the steel will be released and the mill will start making it.

The items from the machine factory also need to be delivered, otherwise the machine factory will stop accepting items. Transport Fever is more complicated than Train Fever. Balance is key- the moment one industry or town stops accepting items - it will create a feedback loop, causing other locations to also stop producing.
