Fuel not being delivered to city with plenty of demand
I'm stumped by this one, because it seems like such a simple line that should be working fine...

I'm in 1896 and have a train that picks up crude oil from an oil well and delivers it straight to a refinery. The train then stops at a nearby city on the way back to the oil well; the idea is that the tank cars should be full of crude oil for leg 1, full of refined fuel to the city on leg 2, and empty on leg 3 back to the oil well.

Despite the city having 0/56 of its fuel demand satisfied, and being directly after the oil refinery (which has 28 units of fuel stored) on the train line, no fuel is leaving the storage from the oil refinery to be transported via tank car.

I even added a truck station in the city within range of the train station to see if that would be a landing point for fuel freight (grasping at straws), with no change.

Why wouldn't fuel be delivered down the train line to the city when the city has demand?

To satisfy my own curiosity, I also added a truck stop at the oil refinery and that didn't make product move. Then I added a road-based line of steam lorries picking up fuel from the oil refinery truck stop and delivering it to the city's truck stop. Again, no product is moving.

The city demands fuel, I am TRYING to get it there, why won't it move???

Make sure to deliver the fuel to the industry (yellow) parts of the city.

Create a truck stop near the train station, then place a bus stop in the center of the yellow zone and setup a truck line to bring fuel from the train station to the industrial zone. With the complete chain built fuel will flow.

Also, make sure that one of your train stations isn't a passenger station.

Thank you, that fixed it. I would expect a city to act as a unit but I guess not...it's all catchment areas (still new to this game). I have to have a truck drive the fuel across town to the industrial area.

I guess I never figured out that fuel is for INDUSTRY. Residences and commercial structures would also use fuel for heat; I assumed fuel was for heating in all zones, not just limited to industry. This game has a damned steep learning curve...

If you click on the name of a town it will show you which zones demand what products and how much they demand of it.

Good to know, thanks!
