So either I throw in the trashcan all my maps as soon as the XIX century ends, or I find a way to disable private cars.
Setting maxSpeed to 0 or 1 km/h only make cars drive very slow but they still appear.
No inital roads between towns and using traffic filter: cars are still used for travel within a town.
New Idea I have is to change all roads config files so they don't allow cars, just trucks, busses and trams, so basicly a traffic filter applied to all roads.
Edit: Also does not stop cars from spawning, should have know cars have always already used bus lanes on the last part of there route to a building. It seems that if there is no other way cars just use bus/truck lanes to get where they want to go.
I did not notice this behavior until I reduced the speed of cars to 5 and it seems that because those cars would spend more time commuting to and from the other city it reduces the traffic snarls within the city for an equal period of time. Whether reducing the speed to rediculously slow levels actually causes some drivers to give up their cars is difficult to determine. Perhaps a lengthier test would give us more answers but I am not prepared do such an intense study because I do not like the idea of not having any cars or having cars move unrealisticly slow.
I tried to change the year of availability of civil transport and that you would think the game crashes when it reaches 1900
