A way to change city names?
Is there a way to change city names without having to rename them manually?

Tried my first map and although I recognize 90% of the city names on the map, that is the problem. To have something like Inglewood and Chicago in close proximity really breaks the immersion of the game.

Is there a mod or game mode that will just use made up names for the cities instead of real U.S. cities? I'd much rather see something like Tuckersons Hollow next to Rumbolt City instead of real city names that I know that I know are not anywhere near each other.

There are plenty of mods in the workshop which change all the city names to a particularly theme. Just go to the workshop and search 'names'

OR just click on a city name, and in the box that comes up, click on the "pencil" by the city's name. You can change the city's name there. Be sure to hit Enter when you're done.

You can also click on the Info panel, bottom left, then click on the City icon (bottom left) and a list of the cities comes up. Click on a city in the list and chenge the name in the box that comes up using the method above.

another tip change the name of the town before placing anything otherwise your depots etc. will reflect whatever the name was not what you changed it to.

Right.
In fact, the very first thing I do when starting a new map (which I do often) is change all the city's names if needed to something shorter if it's too long, or easier to spell.

As a side note, to me city names aren't set in stone, nor do they have to be realistic. I may have a Mayberry, Area 51, Nowhere, Sniffles, Deadwood, Cookie, Worthless, Sewer City, Smelly, or some other goofy name. It's just a game, so why not have some fun? Besides, who wants to type "Milwaukee to Cincinnati"?

On map generation under the advanced button you can change the names to be either US themed or Europe themed. You could always switch that to Europe when you create your next map.

I suspect that if you want your towns (and streets) to be named appropriately to their positions on the map you will need to create your own map and place the towns yourself.

Perhaps the best alternative is to install one of the town name mods so you can select a different or more realistic list of names, although placement will still be random.

There's a file that contains those names. I saved a copy of that file, then opened the original and replaced all the names with towns in my region. Now when I start a new game, those towns are automatically placed on the map, though in random order.

This is the path on my computer. Yours is probably the same:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Transport Fever\res\config\name2\usa\en

The file is called towns.lua.

Did you know that you can change peoples names as well. You can give one your name and follow him if you wish!.

Did not know that. Thanks.
