First make any changes to the station you want, to include connecting additional lines and second road connection.
Build a bridge over the tracks. Then put in the road network and some bus lines. Once the AI starts building, it'll keep on with little more effort (adjusting bus lines) on your part.
Thank you ancient, that's something for me to consider when adding rail after I've got a carriage route up and running (when towns are close to each other.) I like to start slow, stableize "cheap" routes (get some people and cargo moving) then work into rail.
