Shift not working correctly
Having this weird issue the last few weeks or so, holding shift sort of offers straight roads/rail but that's a completely seperate issue & argument.

My issue is hold shift draw whatever then when you click confirm it removes whatever you just laid, not getting charged but it doesn't lay anything either. If letting go of shift it just removes the snap aspect.

Not using any mods to modify that would modify the normal behaviour.

To clarify: holding Shift while building roads/tracks disables snap-to-straight. Normal behavior (without Shift) is to snap to straight-line if the road/track is within 1° or so of straight. There is also a minimum length (50m or so?, off the top of my head) before the snap-to-straight feature kicks in.

Yeah either way, holding shift disables ability to purchase what you just layed unless you let go of it which then snaps to spot that (imo is the opposite of straight) depending on starting location etc ofcourse. Not always, seems to be periodic like the camera auto scrolling or the ability to move camera via the keys which just stops randomly. (not a keyboard issue, game issue)

You have an issue with your game installation then. Try revalidating your game files, or reinstalling your game.

I have noticed this behavior as well. Confirming a road or rail section build while holding the Shift key will cancel the build, always. Releasing the Shift key before confirming will allow you confirm-build the section.

Shift Key cancels Snap-to-Straight and clicking the "Confirm" button while using the Shift Key will cancel the build entirely.

However, while using the Shift key to place a road or rail section exactly where you want it to go, then releasing Shift, sometimes the section will try to snap to where it thinks it should go. This usually happens when there is adjacent track or Station. I have found that changing the camera angle to overhead view will often enable a better placement.

Generally it takes a couple of attempts before I get the placement correct but with practice, I began to get a "feel" for it and barely notice it anymore.

Thanx will give that a try :) I do love the game but that fighting with some aspects that should work flawlessly does take a drain on one's enjoyment.

[AOLMode]Me Too!{/AOLmode]

I don't use the shift free placement feature very often but did notice this happening just the other day.

As @BuffHamster says, a little persistence and mouse/camera jiggling paid off and I was able to get the track laid where I wanted it. :)
