Islands seed?
Heho - been doing a bit of "Random seeds" but cant really find any with "a lot" of water - Only a river which feeds into a pond....

Anyone know of a "good" water seed which would allow me to use more shipping?

I'm guessing I have to use map mods for such maps?

You could look here although a modded map does sound like the best solution here .

If you are up for a challenge you could try the map that Colonel Failure on Youtube is playing on in his current series. This is a link to the save game starting in 1850. The map features a main land and 3 large islands taken from a heightmap of Greece.

If you want a look at it before trying it you can check out his Youtube series here.

Delve into the map generation settings, and you can have some interesting maps, without the need of a map mod. Both these were randomly generated by the game:

Holy smokes....ok...now you got me interested - By map generation settings, you mean when I click "Free game" and get the different settings right?

Which settings in particular should I mess with in order to produce "watery worlds"?

No it's the file base_config.lua which can be opened with notepad etc. My original post responding to your post contained a previous discussion where the numbers to change were indicated.

The best part about these sort of map generation settings is they create natural barriers that you wouldn't normally build bridges across. This makes both ships and planes viable, since you won't have buses or trains crossing such large expanses.

One of the recommendations that the developers make if you want planes to be used is to segregate your map into different zones and not have trains cross such zones. On the normal maps you have to artificially segregate such maps, while on these the terrain does that segregation.

I'm hoping that the developers make some of these options and settings as default in Transport Fever 2. With that said, the Map Editor for TF2 will allow us to sculpt such coastlines ourselves. I can only presume that the developers have looked at the sort of settings we've tested out, and gone with them.
