Transfer from train freight to truck

Can I deliver freight via train to the outskirts of the city and transfer into the city via trucks? I can't make a truck pick up at a freight train station.

Yes. You need to build a truck station next to the train station. The train will unload at the train station, the cargo will automatically be transferred to the truck station, and then you can use trucks to carry it to other truck stations (or bus stops) in-town.

You can even build your truck station next to a passenger train station. The cargo train will unload at the passenger station, and whatever isn't designated for buildings within the catchment area will be transferred to the truck station.

Of course for any of this to work, you've got to have a truck delivery service set up to take goods from the truck station near the train station out to remote truck stations OR bus stops.
