Speed of Light

Anybody got any recommendations on how to get this achievement? I've played through the year 2010 and I don't think I've seen any trains that can go that fast. Planes seem not to work for this achievement because the planes I have flying go faster than that on each trip. Help please!

You have to use a large map, not sure if medium will work, or a expanded map. You need to run high speed rail from a bottom corner city to a top corner city making sure the speed is 300 kph the whole way with no stops or slow downs between. You need to use one of the bullet trains (300 kph) which you can find at the bottom of the list of trains. Then just set up a line and run the train. Basically you need enough room to get to 300 kph before it slows down. Most likely this will be a special line built just for this achievement, since most "normal" lines will be inadequate.

And use the shortest TGV, has the best power/ton.

I've hit the 300kph required on a small 1:1 map!

1) Get a large 1:3 ratio map. You MUST play European set of vehicule, as the only, non-mod, train capable of going that fast is the French TGV.
2) at the end of the game when you are stupidly rich, you make a straight, flat rail that crosses all of it on the longer side.
3) Put a short TGV on it.
4) Get achievement.

You might even be able to get it in the scenario where you're building the TGV...
