Does the 20 minute rule still apply to Transport Fever?
I have a further question regarding the 20 minute rule which really confused me. So I read that cargo or passengers won't stick around after 20 minutes. So if I had one stagecoach going from a city to another city and it took 25 minutes, they'd all disappear that is fine and good and no one will then go to Bus Stop to get a ride. But... if I add a bunch more busses to increase the frequency they will and some will actually make it and not disappear. Why is that? I would think because the ride of 20 minutes itself should mean no one will make it period.

Also, does the 20 minute rule apply to cargo in both Train Fever and Transport Fever?

Last question along these lines. Should you ever have one train go to 3+ cities? I tried to do that in Train Fever: City A >> City B >> City C >> then back to start.

Thanks so much for anyone who comes in to answer and help. :steamhappy:

People and cargo do not disappear after a certain length of time. Not in this game or in the previous game. That was an assumption some people made for why people disappeared.

From my understanding this game does not adhere to a strict time limit like the previous game did. But it uses a budgeting system instead. The budgeting system effectively limits the time and distance people and cargo will travel depending on how expensive the modes of transport are relative to the time they take to get them where they want to go.

There was a 20 minute rule in Train Fever, which affected the way the lines worked, this was removed in Transport Fever.

There is however a maximum price that will be paid by people or goods which equates to a sort of distance restriction depending on the factor of transport being used. This can have a similar overall effect on cargo and passengers. It equates to the maximum price that is willing to be paid and makes train lines of around 15-20km and above not function, but you should only see this on large maps like the 4k or 6k maps that appear on the workshop.

I hope this helps.

Ohhh interesting! So if I have a train station that is to deliver Goods in "Train" Fever, and I set it to wait for full load, if it is waiting more than 20 minutes will it hurt the value of the Goods, or stunt the destination city's growth if it has to wait 10 minutes for a full load?
(I'm working to get achievements for fun in Train Fever which is why I'm still bothering with it)

Moving to Transport Fever, is there any reason then to not wait for a full load of Goods? or Cargo? Once again do you make less money the longer it takes to get there due to delays, or does it hurt growth or production?

Thank you both so much!!! :steamhappy:

Use "wait for full load" with care, because the longer a vehicle is "waiting for full load," the faster the line approaches an infinite frequency, which turns off the line connection through that line.

In general you do not want your vehicles to wait for full load. It's only usefull in some rare occasions (like ship transferring to a train or vice versa)

OK thank you for popping in to sat that @Robbedem. The one reason I was looking at it was to limit traffic when playing a train focused game, limiting trucking, plus not using any ships or planes (trying to play more like a Railroad Tyccon style game)

Best way to limit traffic is with a vehicle capacity adjustment mod from the workshop!

I meant to reduce the number of trains on my railroads so I could have long, cool looking freight trains. I'm not sure if that was apparent from my last post.

In Train Fever the 20 minute rule had no bearing on people and goods that were already in transit. The game estimates the time it takes to go places and if it estimates it to take longer than the allowed time it simply does not make the trip in the first place. The moment it sets out on a trip that it estimated to be within the time limit, how long it actually takes does not matter. It could end up actually taking 2 hours (if for instance there is a super heavy traffic jam or your trains get deadlocked somehow) and it would have no problem with that.

I find waiting for a full load to be very useful, and use it often. Trucks wait at a truck station to pick up cargo for the city. Trucks, trains, or ships waiting at a raw resource producer for a full load before making the long journey to the processor. Passenger trains waiting 1 minute for a full load to catch last minute passengers.

Pay attention to the warnings and finance window for any possible problems.

Wow, once again you've educated me well. I have spent so many hours reading guides, watching videos and still misunderstood this (or more likely many just had it wrong).

@ancienthighway - I used it well in Train Fever for Trucks taking raw materials to other truck stops. But for some reasn, when I set Goods to pick them up (wait for full load), they'd always get stuck, so I had to put them on the normal setting.

Tis funny, I've never been an achievement hunter, but kind of like it in these two games.

I'am wondering if there is a maximum time distance for all passegners or is this complety different for every individuual.

I see on a hiusing block the total ammont of places that are reacheble. Next to a small station it is a complete other number than in a larger city but theoretacily is it possible to tkae the transport system from that small town too the oter side of the map only no one ever does this.

I think it has more to do with is there a need for the passenger to travel to the other side of the map. People travel for two reasons, work or shopping, then return home. Usually that trip means to the closest largest city and back.

I believe it's exactly what it says in the FAQ, that it's a ranged maximum. "Fast" passengers have a range that they are willing to pay, and "cheap" have a different range. While cargo has yet a different range. Different passengers and cargo within the same category can have a different maximum within that range.
