LOL, great, it "improved" an oil well/refinery and a quarry/construction materials plant out of existence.
And I guess that means that it is no longer possible to do play-alongs with old YouTuber videos, right? Since none of the seeds work the same any more.
No, that isn't what I'm saying.
I had a map seed that I had played several months ago prior to the big gameplay patch. I wanted to give it another run to see if the "improvements" made a big difference. But none of the recources or industries are in the same places anymore. Specifically, an oil well/refinery pair and a quarry/CM Plant pair that were located at adjacent towns are no longer present. It makes what was a pretty nice map into a difficult mess.
Harrumph, "progress".
However, instead of trying to use a "seed", download a Map from the Workshop. But read the discription carefully:
* Some maps have no industries at all (but the same cities in the same place).
* Some maps use the game's random industry placement (but all the cities are in the same place).
* Some maps have set cities AND industries (both will show up in the same places every time). I think this is what you're wanting- a "reproducable" map.
There's also a "DIY" industry placement mod (Industry Tycoon) AND there's a "New Industry" mod that adds all new industries and product chains to the game for an additional challenge.
I wouldn't try to "play along" with the youtuber's anymore. All of them use so many mods (and different ones) that's it's really hard to dupe what they're doing. Then there's the random production in the game itself. Maybe HE'S making lots of money from a high-production well, but YOUR'S may not.
