New Game Load time
Hey so, I have a fairly new machine and some decent hardware under the hood. For whatever reason it takes about 8 minutes to load into a new game. Once I am in game run's smooth. Strange. Any suggs?

If you have a SSD drive, you can install the game there and it will load faster. WhatI have noticed is that starting the game for the first time after starting up your computer, the load time will be much longer, ...

I have it on my HDD because its 1TB. My SSD is only 128GB. Can it have that much of an impact? Disk Defrag says everything is OK. 16GB of ram too....Ill reinstall on SSD see if that helps.

Are you running any AV software? This is what I found out when I got long loading times:

After I added the exception it loaded fast again. If you have another AV software, try to add the folder to the exception list.

Added exception and Installed on SSD now. Shaved about a minute off. Official load time 7:41 seconds to start a new game on fresh install no mods....Frustrating. I doesnt stop me from playing, but It would be nice to figure out a solution or if anyone else has the problem.

Maybe the map size? On Med map it loads much faster.

Then it is your CPU. Fresh maps takes long to load, because the CPU has lots of stuff to calculate. The map is completely random every time you load a fresh map.

If you saved your map, the loading times will be much shorter.

i7- 6700HQ shouldnt bog down. Unless your saying a new maps take a long time to load, specifically the larger ones.

That might explain your slow loading times. Mobile processors and this game doesn't always work nicely. Makeu sure to set your laptop power profile on performance.

and yes, the bigger the map the longer the loading time. That is because your computer is having to, well, load a new random seed, so its generating all the towns/people/industries/road ect all for the first time. Now if you loaded that map again from a save file, it will load very quickly as the game already knows where all that stuff is supposed to be.

If you do not like the load times, then do not play on the Large map, which should be played on desktops with more then 16gb of ram. The larger the map, the more quickly it will generate agents, which, in the end, cause major game lag in the mid/late game (aka 1900/1950's if started in 1850).

Stick to Medium maps, they are plenty fun, and you will still have tons of trains running everywhere for industries ect. You can play for a VERY long time on a medium map before major lag kills it.

I have a "gaming" laptop (i7, NVidia 980, 16 megs of ram).
New "free game" map from computer restart, 1:3, large.
Time to map shows on screen: 2 min, 33 sec, (and 025 ms). Is that a long time? Of course, and hopefully they'll improve the loading times. But 8 minutes? I'd be pulling my hair out and in the meantime searching on-line for another computer.

Also make sure your power plan isn't keeping your CPU running at a lower clock speed. For windows 10 hit start, type "Power Options" and select High Performance plan.

Thanks guys, I figured the ASUS GL552VW could perform but looks like medium maps seem to be the way to go. Loads pretty quick. Ordering parts to build Tower as we speak....XD. Thanks for all the advice guys.

The only change I would make for better fps is the CPU. Change the i5-6600 to i7-7700K. The 7700K is confirmed as the CPU with the highest IPC available for PC.

The AMD Ryzen would be awesome if you doing productivity work like video editing, 3d animation, excel sorting and statistics.
