very hard no health
just bought the game and finding it hard. With 500 health i lose at least 75-100 on every mob of bad guys i encounter. where am i suppose to heal? Can't even complete first trial!
Also how do i get better and grind for different spells and relics? After collecting some relics and dying i lose them? So how do i grind to get better when i cant even get through the first stage? I thought at least when i die I'll have some more coin and stuff but i lose everything and back to where i started?

The game is meant to be played just like that: gather, power up, die, rinse and repeat. If I remember right, you eventually earn currency to unlock new items and spells that could be found in future runs. You're not supposed to get super strong before you start a run, as that defeats the whole purpose of the game's focal point: the Wizard Trials.

It's hard...no one said it was easy, but that's how rogue-like games are. The game is hard so you have to play and learn the enemies attacks and your own attacks so you can beat the last boss.

You are not going to finish the game in just a few hours unless you are very good player (which clearly you aren't) so you just have to be patient.

You don't keep anything you acquire on the trials except for signature arcanas that you get from defeating the council members (the bosses) and the chaos gems that you use to buy stuff on the plaza. The arcanas and relics you buy on the plaza will be permanently unlock for you to use in a run, but you can only enter the trial with 4 arcanas (but you can hold a maximum of 7) and 1 relic (after you finish the boss once you can also buy a non permanent cursed relic).

Every rogue-like game is this way, the trick here is to repeat everytime and find the combo you consider the best for you. Actually I still can't defeat the last council member, but on my last try I get to him with full health... it's a mix of pure rng and skills, try to take care of your health and learn from your mistakes

It's mostly skill and experimentation that will get you through. After a while, and you might think I'm crazy for saying this, you'll find the healing pretty frequent. You're guaranteed a pot for each shop and there's usually enough gold to buy at least one per floor. You get healed a bit at each level after killing the mini boss and a bit of health before the council members.

Use your gems to buy new artifacts, spells, and outfits in that order (if you have A LOT of gems, you're already doing well! Treat yourself to some new threads or something, champ!)

Focus on dodging at first, and be extremely aggressive against normal mobs with the exception of things like the stone golems. You'll stun lock pretty much everything with your basic combos giving you enough time to quickly clear rooms with your arcana as they recharge.

build your arcana so they combo together well. Pair ranged arcana with things that hold your enemies still for easy shots. Or use "leap" arcana to avoid attacks (Heroic Leap, Binary Splashdown, etc.) There's a lot of arcana strategies that you can find to get you through to the point where the game's difficulty becomes mostly trivial. It'll take a while to get there, but if you look up the builds on reddit and start unlocking things, you'll do fine! Just practice and don't give up ok?

ROGUE-LIKE games are built intentionally to be that you lose everything gathered in a dungeon on death
the only things that stay with you are chaos gems and gold, which can be used to purchase spells and relics on the overworld so you can enter the dungeon again with a different starting moveset

You are not supposed to get hit and expect to find healing later. You are supposed to avoid getting hit by all means. It is a wizard game in the first place, wizards must learn how to matain their distance at combat. Try playing with joystick too. My joystick broke and I sucks heavy with keyboard and mouse to proper dodge and chain spells. You will probably play better with it. Devs were not joking when they recommended controllers for playing the game.

I managed to beat it with keyboard and mouse yesterday, but I used a turtle wizard build with plenty of armor buffs from relics and spinning defensive spells on all slots. Until I found a special gift box with summon arcanas of all elements plus 3 relics that buffs the summons. After this point I was simple running around and waiting for the elemental sprites to kill the bosses for me. A very lame way to play.

I'm going for a full spear throwing build next. Seems fun. People doesn't seems to like them a lot because of no AoE damage, but they can do heavy single target damage, especially the ice spear. And push enemies to holes too.

use the helmet visor item that gives you a trajectory line because it boosts projectile damage as well

Indeed. I am doing it with a critical build, Awe outfit and starting with Gloves of Gambit, Analytical Monocle or Assassin's blade for a small boost. Both ice and lightning spears. And since all multi hits are criticals if the first hit crits, Ice spear as signature arcana can hit for massive damage on bosses and all bouncing surge procs can crit as well. Paired with the right cursed relics like Blinding Binoculars and if you have the luck to come across Fiery Paintbrush in the run, you can crit for hundreds of damage per hit. And the best thing of all is that you can poke bosses for decent damage while they are still performing their combos.

YES thats what i like to hear, i love bouncing surge
