thought as much. It honestly bothers me, cus it makes those two characters actually rather unplayable. The game has some things that need to be adjusted and fixed. don't get me wrong, the game isn't broken, you can totally win/get through the novel, but it would sure be nice if that stuff was ever fixed.
I did however encounter a completely broken optional boss. I looked up ways to beat him only to learn that he's literally impossible to defeat on your first playthrough. It's baffling how the developers never noticed something like that.
The one dragon, yeah poor balance.
The game itself, most of the green characters are bad at attacking. Pretty sure it explains it in the tutorials and the game story as well.
Every spirit has individual characteristics beyond just their type, and it goes beyond just stat gain - what abilities they gain at what levels, and even what those abilities specifically do - even with the same ability and rank between spirits there can be different stats and effects. With that said, in general you can categorise them as follow:
green = defense, and healing/defense support.
Esperia gets high HP and defense and good abilities, but completely lacks magic resist growth. Halion is more of a healer in abilities and growth, but can function well enough as a defender due to her high HP. Nimnthor is the strongest overall defender in stats and abilities, but lacks flat HP.
red = offensive support/magic
Havn't used Nanaru at all, but Orpha gets... well pretty crappy attacker attacks that don't get much better, in return she has strong support magic. Himika on the other hand, is more of a jack of all trades master of none attacker, her offensive support are weaker than other reds but she has decent (not great, but decent) attacker abilities.
Blue = attacker and interrupt support.
You will need these guys a lot. They have good damage abilities, and are the only characters that can stop strong red enemies from messing you up by countering their magic. Ensure to keep them levelled as each level of Ice Banisher will only counter a certain spell level.
Black = counterattack defender, unique magic support, and all rounder.
I have only really used uruka but each black spirit seems to have their own unique traits perhaps to a greater extent than other colors. Their defense abilities have a counterattack trait to deal damage when they are attacked, their offense abilities often hit many many times per turn - often more than an enemy defender will be able to defend against - and some of their attacks can target enemies other than the defender (this is not unique to black spirits but seems to be most prevalent). Their damaging magic will not do as much damage as a red spirit but cannot be interrupted by ice banisher, and their repertoire also includes debuffs and other battle altering magics. With that said, I've found them to be largely not hugely useful in my own strategies.
