Any way to direct the "winds of time"?
New Game+, trying to do a No Beacons run. As I understand it, you're supposed to wait until the winds cross the Beacon tower next to the "Abril Madagril" Time Serpent spirits, then ZIP away from it. Unfortunately, I've spent several minutes watching the winds, and they never once came close to the beacon tower :(

You can't direct them at all, which causes this to be one of the more annoying parts of an NBAS or NB run. They seem to be on a loose timer, though, so they will be there eventually.

I really really hate the winds of time now. If you don't want anyone to get into the tower, just make them never approach it. If you've programmed the outcome and willing to allow the player to do so, just have the winds engulf the tower every minute or so, in a reliable fashion. As it stands, we get all the frustrations of an RNG, but you also have to wait and pay attention for minutes every time you make a dice roll. Just... the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worst.

At the very - VERY - least, if the winds actually STOPPED while you travelled, it would be halfway tolerable. You've waited for minutes, caught the moment when they pass over the tower, hit enter - done. Doing all that only to be greeted with "whoops, the winds moved on while you were travelling" is just... amazingly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

There is, but it's a bug. You have to have the rewind function to do this. Go to somewhere you want to Wind of Time back, and then go to Shadrack's Hut, shout his name. Leave. Now, rewind back, rewind forward, and keep doing it until the Winds of Time cover mostly everything and freeze. Now rewind back to the area you want to go to.

This doesn't work for places with their own maps, like the Temple, Bridge, Beacon, or Bria's hut.

NBAS, No Beacons All Serpents, Winds of Time, Tower, Save Game Editing for Total Completion. ~5 minutes

This editing of game files should not have to be attempted. This is a error in game design in my opinion therefore I find it almost necessary. You can also use the speedhack on cheat engine, however I attempted this prior at .05 to 50x speed for a considerable amount of time with no luck.

This is the way to edit the save files to make the tower able to be entered to complete an NBAS run.

Navigate to your save folder: users/youruserprofile/appdata/local/inkle/sorcery

In game: Defeat everything in swamps you want and end your save point at the stonehenge area but NOT the tower. Quit game and reload just to make sure your last save is one tick from the tower.

In the save folder, BACKUP all your json files in a folder on your desktop.
With game CLOSED, open the last json with 7zip (NOT winrar or winzip), open archive.
Double click to open the file in the archive, open in NOTEPAD.

Replace:
{"fixedMaskLayerImage": "enter-baklands-fixed-layer.png"}
With:
{"fixedMaskLayerImage": "second-ancient-only.png"}

Then save in notepad a few times and close notepad. The 7zip archive will ask if you want to update the save and click yes. (Sometimes 7zip doesn't ask you to update, you must keeping repeating the notepad save and close until you get 7zip to update the archive. You will see your success by opening the file in notepad and seeing your changes active).

Open game, you will see the Time Serpent across the map and covering the Tower. (You will already have defeated the Time Serpent at the stonehenge. This is the map change you would have received if it fled to the island.

Go to the top of the Tower and cast teleport to go to the mountaintop and fall into the water and continue on your journey. Keep in mind the god Yb'ran is in present and you must change save file edit back to visit him.

Once you are ready to reset the changes just go back to your last save file (with game closed) and edit back that line to the previous "enter-baklands-fixed-layer.png". Be careful not to rewind back past the points where you edited the save files or you'll have to repeat this series of actions.

Well, this saved me a lot of time. I was having fun with it until I had to wait for the winds of time.

To add to it, right-clicking the file in 7zip and pressing edit made 7zip ask to update the archive every time I tried, at least.
