New VGS is confusing players NEW and OLD
Basically as the title suggests.
To put things into context I've played since the early access days, while a new friend of mine only just started and we both agree.

This new VGS system is confusing, we tried using keyboard and mouse and controller.

How is VCQE less confusing than VVGG, I mean even at a glace GG would always means Good Game.

It also was severely neutered of many voicelines, and makes it hard to say the line you intend to say.

I can't even tell a specific teammate they did a "Nice Job!" with the VGS.

Also clumping similar voicelines to single binds adds another layer of confusion

If I want to just say "Curses!" for example it could play "Well that's too bad" but that was not the line I intended to use.

I already read your Dev Blog about why we can't have the old VGS system as an option and it doesn't quite add up.

You say having a separate set of keybinds would "create a disparity between users - with players having access to different lines and keybinds"

However, even with this new system...

There already is and still IS a disparity between users, those who use controllers have different binds than those who use mouse and keyboard.

Then I found a lovely post about an idea that could help EVERY player on the r/Paladins reddit which I shall quote below:
"
What I believe they should do:

1. Make the VGS commands that appear in chat like [VCQE] reflect what the player viewing it
has THEIRS set to, which would make it super easy for new players to know their VGS
commands. If Player A used a controller, and saw a PC player in cross-play use VGS the
command bind in chat for this PC player wouldn't be seen as the PC equivalent, but as the
one the other player has it set too personally.

2. As long as #1 is done, there would be no reason NOT to allow us to set our own binds for
VGS. Even if it started as a PC experiment.

3. Re-impliment 3rd person as a Custom Server Option, like if a server has 3rd person
enabled players could use their appropriate keybind
"
I mean it wouldn't be that out of the question, since the profanity filter you guys have already does something similar.
Just instead of looking for profanity, this new system could wait for a player to use VGS, compare it to the client's bound VGS commands and change the combination in chat appropriately on the client. This would also give a solution to not allowing us to set our own binds for voicelines since regardless of the client's preference it would show OURS instead of theirs.

Sure while some of the old voicelines were similar they still made the game fun to use VGS, now most of the time the matches are silent. No players using the new system, except those who just spam.
