Unable to start Paladins (Content File Locked)
So earlier today, the new patch downloaded and I was able to play until I had to go to classes a little later. I came back and started up paladins only to see that it downloaded something and it was stopped at 99% Apparently HiRezBridge.exe is unable to be opened and it says I don't have the permissions to open it.
(NOTE: I am the owner and admin of this computer and I can't open it even under administrator.) I do have McAffee but it doesn't seem to be blocking Paladins so I can only think that sometime between my going to class around 4 hours ago and coming back 3 hours later, something happened
If anyone has an idea of what might've happened, I appreciate you letting me know.

at first it would tell me paladins could not locate hirez launcher.. so i re-installed.
Now i get the same error.. Content File Locked.

guess no paladins or login today!

EDIT: Shut down steam.. rebooted my PC then the download finished and was not locked.
BUT.. now it says it cant find the hirez launcer again.. omg.. this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game..

Reinstalling the game has nothing to do with its Services as they are separate

Goto the Binaries/Redist folder for the game and install/reinstall every .exe you see there, that should help.

No no, you don't get it. I can't even open up anything in the Redist folder. It says I don't have the permissisons for it even though I'm the administrator.

did you try right clicking them and selecting run as admin?

Yes. I tried that and manually making myself admin via properties but NOTHING. It's really weird.

Are any other files locked? make sure its only those and not ones in other locations as well.

the reason is your virus program deleting the file. this has happened to me with Avast and i never noticed until checking the virus chest for an unrelated issue.

Actually, 2019, this is still a thing.
Avast indeed still detects Paladin.exe as infected and locks it, so thank you for identifying the problem Dacowgomoo1. Super helpful.
