This game needs role queue
I decided to go back to Overwatch after well over a year, I last played that game before role queue was a thing, now I'm playing it again and experiencing role queue, it's nothing short of genious.

What makes it good is not only the fact that you get games where the "required" roles are being filled, but it also makes it so that people that have a high MMR due to only playing heals won't be having that same high MMR while being completely "new" to the dps or even tank role.

There's too many times in this game where it's a weird 1 sided stomp, either be it people playing roles they rarely play, or characters in a role they're new in, I highly doubt anything will come of this, it's mearly a suggestion in which I can already see this community frothing out the mouth and angrily typing on their keyboards at the thought of anything stopping them from queueing up as 4 dps in casuals.

I can't prove it, but i believe the game has less players than Overwatch, which means that implementing Role Queue wouldn't work as well, since some roles may be unplayable if you don't have 15 minutes.

I play both fairly frequently and can say OW probably has more players but paladins would benefit from a role queue. Maybe add an incentive like OW.

I actually think this is a amazing idea. As I play and main Support. It irrtates me to see ppl pick my character and not heal. I'm getting better with IO and Ting so I'm not much handicapped to play only seris.

As for the not that many players issue... I doubt it. This game is crossplay and I'm for a fact we have a constant 10k or 20k players on steam Pc. Who knows how much of the player base is on ps4 and xbox. And even pc who happens not too use steam. I personally think it will work however. We will run into a issue where everyone wants to play damage and tank. Which never see support.

All the roll queue will do is further increase wait times.

As I guarantee the jobs like Flanks and Damage will be so heavily picked that if you your self decided to play one of them once in a while will never see the light of day in a match.

They can't add new content except champions as-is. And that's once every 3-4 months. Asking them to create a brand new system means they'll pause all content, except battlepasses. So, no thanks.

o.o' i could make the system in a few hours honestly o.o' it doesn't require anything fancy literally just a UI window with 4 buttons 1 for each role.... you click the button it queues you as that role and matches you up with the correct assortment of teammates

kind of removes the unique lineups like 3 tank meta and double healer single tank, maybe it would be a good idea if it was an optional queue thing that people could chose to use if they want.

You do realise theres more to coding than drawing? Because they will def have to take alot of time with role queue because of bugs and pure production time.

To add onto this, they use a heavily modified UE3 engine. Coding isn't as black and white as everyone claims.

I like Pala because it's more free and doesn't have structured things like role queues. I like being able to play a support as dmg and frag out.

I'm sure the millions of damage players in FF XIV that run around picking daisies while waiting for a match will agree with you

Here's your role queue : player picks support. Gets in match. Picks Seris. Picks SC and runs off laughing, but that's not the actual issue with Role Queue and why it doesn't work with Paladins. Role Queue forces a specific team comp which only works with games that need a specific team setup, like WoW, or that can get away with everyone running the same team setup. Who gets to decide what the team setup is? What team setup would be used? double frontline, solo support? solo front line double support? solo front line, solo support trip DPS? Role Queue works in WoW because that game is ruled by the Trinity of Main Tank, Main Healer and DPS to fill in the missing slots. Regardless of any other issue, that one detail causes a cascade problem dealing with how to make it work with players not solo queuing and it causes problems with players in one queue possibly not getting matches very often and others getting matches a lot which just creates the issue that was solved previously by grenading matchmaking to make matches happen faster and probably won't solve that issue and maybe even exacerbate the issue as now the system is trying to find matches faster with players further split up not only by match queue (TDM, Onslaught, Siege, Ranked, and separate lobbies for input method) but by role preference (Flanker, Support, Damage and/or Front Line).

I mean, if you don't just want to grenade Matchmaking but drop and orbital nuke on it, that's a good way to do it, but, personally, I'd rather not have an orbital nuke dropped on matchmaking and make it substantially worse.

Considering how champions arent static like OW, and indeed are customizable, I don't think this is a good idea. Especially not with the lower player base.

It's a pretty easy problem to solve, just offer incentives instead of ttrying to force people to do what you want. You mentioned Warcraft, WoW had the same issues with no one wanting to heal or tank. So Blizzard offered increased rewards and shorter que times for tanks and healers. It's not complicated, you choose a support and do more healing than dps, and you get bonus xp and gold or something. Maybe an extra bounty point. You choose FL and stay on the point for some percentage of the match and you get extra rewards. It's not that difficult to adjust the rewards to follow shifting trends in the player base.

Queue times are shorter for Tanks and Healers in WoW because everyone wants to play DPS, it isn't because of anything Blizzard did.

I've seen what happens when you reward players for bad play tendencies with the BP challenges, and I'd rather not see that happen with constant rewards for the same.
