Only partied players can voice chat with each other in quickplay.
Bot matches? Open voice chat with all.
Ranked? Same.
Test maps? Same.
Events, like the end times from early 2019? Same.
Custom? Same.
Why not quickplay? I've asked this question for years, and no one has an answer. I'm not sure the devs themselves even know it's disabled in quickplay modes, especially after they handled the VGS debacle.
Paladins also has a very, very bad push to talk implementation. Depending on your microphone, the game either won't accept (or even acknowledge) hardware buttons that turn off microphones, or it'll require constant activation of your microphone, as if it wasn't merely in push to talk, but muted, THEN you had push to talk selected. My GHS1 headset is the only microphone I have that actually works properly, because the game respects the hardware button that mutes me.
The problem in that is, as the above poster said, it doesn't always work in paladins. I went through all sorts of audio drivers trying to figure out the issue but I think it's just another paladins bug. I'm either always-on or always-off, because paladins somehow ignores the mute button on the headset. It's a hassle so I just don't speak unless I'm with a friend using discord or Xbox chat.
