I find Io to be a good balance between damage and healing however when the opposing team is able to keep Luna out of the mix then Io's healing and damage is sub par.
Io's reach with Moonlight healing is quite far and effective at keeping teammates alive just long enough to eliminate an opponent or escape but Io's Moonlight healing is not strong enough in comparison to Seris or Furia.
Luna is a great at keeping nearby teammates alive during team fights as well as adding extra damage. The passive Luna heals allows Io to focus more on dealing damage however once Luna is defeated or zoned out Io's damage and healing output drop significantly. Io's damage and healing is strong when combined with Luna but without Luna, depending on the situation, Io can easily become sub par in all categories.
One of the biggest boons for Io is Luna can contest objectives. The real trick is positioning and re-positioning Luna to maximize damage and healing output without putting Luna into everyone's crossfire (unless Io wants Luna to stall or tank for a moment).
Luna's ability to stun through shields is fantastic against Khan, Fernando, Makoa, and also effective at halting others such as Maeve, Skye, and Evie. The stun can quickly snuff out pesky opponents.
Perhaps the biggest problem with Io is here lack of utility to save herself when in a pinch. She does have a Leap backwards ability but she's an easy airborne target during the leap and usually Leap leaves Luna to instantly die if Luna is not dead already. Furthermore maps with ceilings or elevated objects can really shut down Leap. And of course many flanks can simply chase Io after Leap anyway.
During casual champion selection I choose Io when dps is not high enough or when Luna easily helps on the specific map. Seris is for those long range heals and when I find the day's meta is discriminating Luna. I'd like to play Pip a lot more but I'll only play him if there's a teammate highlighting a healer.
I like the damage/healing balance of Io. I also like the chess-game of positioning Luna but I definitely expect to switch to a different healer if the opposing teams would focus more on eliminating Luna more often.
And I don't like playstyles of some supports.
So Imo io is currently better than most of the supports. With 15% dmg reduction + granting movement speed to allies saves them from many tough situations.
Doggo also does many things.
Imo the best support is furia, she can heal, do dmg, boost allies, and is thicc as hell
IO's one of the best healers in the game but everyone plays her wrong. Life link is horrible, has no range and doesn't heal the player that needs to be healed at that moment.
Goddess Blessing is the best in the game with the correct build *and team buys*.
When I run this build i don't get top heal numbers like Furia's beam heals on 2 tanks, but I win because I heal who needs it and give them defense when needed the most.
I like to give them a touch of speed also, but not too much that it throws their aim off.
When I actually do have vets on my team and the tank has Rejuv it's an easy sweep.
oh also the dog count as player, so your team can play agressive while the dog cap the point
Don't play her as solo healer.
