Paladins: Champions of the Realm

Paladins: Champions of the Realm (Paladins as a shorthand) is a free-to-play online team-based game. In earlier versions, one of the main draws of the game is the card system: as a player progresses through a match, they will randomly draw and select cards from their character's deck to augment their health, damage and abilities.[15] The current version of the card system permits pre-designed loadouts that provide augments to various abilities and stats, as well as "burn cards" that can be purchased and upgraded mid-match to provide additional perfomance bonuses. The game was announced on June 11, 2013. Paladins: Champions of the Realm went into open beta on September 16, 2016, and released on Steam as an early access title the same day.[16] Valve is involved in producing the game.[citation needed]
Announced - june 11 2013

Overwatch .

Development of Overwatch followed after the 2014 cancellation of the ambitious massively multiplayer online role-playing game Titan, a game that had been in development at Blizzard for seven years.[37] Blizzard co-founder Michael Morhaime stated that with Titan, "We didn't find the fun. We didn't find the passion." even after re-evaluating the project.[38] The large Titan team was cut to a much smaller group and tasked to come up with a new project; Overwatch became Blizzard's second attempt at launching a new franchise since StarCraft in 1998.[39][40] Creative director Chris Metzen noted that to avoid the same failure that Titan became, their group had to rethink how Blizzard's more successful games had come about, ignoring the scale and business opportunity of the end result and instead understand what tools and skills they had already to build from.[40] In brainstorming ideas, the team thought about the current state of first-person shooters (FPS), a genre that many on the team had played throughout their careers, which has enjoyed many groundbreaking titles but still has a potential for innovation, according to director Jeff Kaplan.[41]

Announced after the 2014 failure/cancelation of Titans .

Hope this clears thing up , This is from Wikipedia , No speculation ,all facts .

I disagree. What came first was actually Warhammer Online, similar to its Instances.

The first was "Global Agenda" ... and Overwatch copied from Global Agenda.
And Global Agenda is a Game from Hi-Rez, devs from Paladins.

Here is another fact for you : release date for all similiar characters in Paladin (Evie, Fernando, Makoa, Viktor, Androxus and Barik) are all after Overwatch was released, that is according to the wiki.
I hate going into this, since it does not matter at all as long as the companies involved don`t mind but you fanboys are in denial. I mean are you honestly saying this:

https://game-guide.fr/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Paladins-Fernando-bouclier.jpg

is not based on this:

I mean come on, google Paladins and on the first page you get this link:

What you guys are failing to notice, or are deliberately glossing over is the fact that some of the characters in Paladins seems to be based on characters in Overwatch, not gameplay, modes and different classs types.
again I have to reiterate, it does not matter, but you guys really need to stop with this ♥♥♥♥.

You're all wrong. Pong came first.

I like both games but fanboys are really in denial huh?
There is no proof of Paladins being announced before Overwatch at all.
Wikipedia is NOT a reputable source, do your google searches and try to find Paladins being announced before 2015.

Nice job linking to to that Reddit post, FYI this is the first comment there:

"So people are supposed to ignore the blatant rip of Reinhardt's shield on the armored tank character? The animal-themed hero with the chain-hook attack? The character who freezes herself for invulnerability?
You know how these "coincidental" similarities look to the average consumer? They look like the design team decided, "Hey, let's rip off this hyped-up game and try to ride the wake of their success. Then if people point out how similar they are, we'll just say that every similarity is easily attributable to popular video game tropes." Yeah, well. Guess what? That doesn't fly when the rip-off looks like a near-exact copy of the source material."

Well it might as well been started to 2013, but as I have mentioned time and time again, every single character similiar to Overwatch was released AFTER Overwatch was released, so I don`t know what they are trying to prove by saying Paladins started development in 2013...

Either way you look at it, Paladins wasn't announced publically until 2015.
No matter what way you look at it this game has borrowed some designs from OW, now whether you want to look at that as a good or bad thing is up to you, I enjoy BOTH games.
But don't try and sit up here and make it look like OW borrowed from Paladins when it's the other way around..

Blizzard didn't steal any of them. How can they HiRez steal what was already stolen?

"A straw man is a common form of argument and is an informal fallacy based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while actually refuting an argument that was not advanced by that opponent."

We never said there are no similarities but most thing is just generic like hooks and shields. And the big problem is the OW fanboys calling it arip-off for a few similar skills when the game itself is very different.
