HiPatchService.exe starts on startup, stays after you uninstall
Real classy to close the first thread mentioning this for "fearmongering".

If you install this game, it'll jam its patching service into your system startup.
Uninstalling the game will silently leave a folder with 86mb of data, including this file which remains there to start up on system boot to eat your system resources forever.

You can disable it by unticking "Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate and Update Service" in msconfig, the folder should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Hi-Rez Studios.

Please clean your ♥♥♥♥ up and only start your resource drain once I actually want to play your game, not always.
Until you do, I'm done with this game.

Every Hi-rez game uses that and atleast two of them are up on Steam and one of the, Smite's been up for years. Don't you think Valve or someone would have noticed it by now if it's a virus.

I don't care, it's a system drain that remains after I uninstall.
The fact that it has always been there only makes it worse, if anything.
Shows that it has nothing to do with this game being an alpha.

Why would Steam let a system drain sit on their platform for years? Take of your tinfoil hat.

What do facts have to do with tinfoil hats?
If I look for it, I can see that it's there and it remains there until specifically addressed.

I know it's there and I don't care because it's not doing ♥♥♥♥ to my computer or personal data or anything like that. It's there to check for updates and cheats.

Sorry for the bump, But this hipatchservice.exe is still here and it's extremily annoying. a bump on this kind of thread doesn't matter since the problem is still active. I've been searching for a way how to disable it, and thank you it's finally here. http://i.imgur.com/b8M9rTP.png this is extremily annoying. I've even looked in registry but forgot about msconfig. ty for that :D

if you use steam to install/uninstall, it does not uninstall the prereqs/redists
ex. hires, dx, vcredist, dotnet, physx, ect...

if you want them removed, you will need to uninstall them yourself, using control panel -> programs, or manually
