But yeah, Payload was fun not like mindless Onslaught and TDM. Hi-Rez was partially at blame too because they never make a new map for Payload for a very long time and no specific quest for Payload too.
No, Payload is all about which team is the fastest to go furthest. Adding overtime will beat the purpose.
They removed Payload because they listened the community feedback.
I think my problem with payload was the whole offense than defense thing. I would have preferred it if the maps were bigger and more interesting with each team either attacking or defending each match. A big reason why I didn't like the do both way payload was setup is that I really liked to play Ash on the attack as her knockback made pushing the payload very easy, but defending was another story. On defense she was just an average tank with an average explosion attack. Knocking enemies of a payload you are defending is not nearly as effective as knocking them off of one you are pushing. It was a bit helpful to be able to switch legendaries and loadouts when the teams swapped roles though. Her siege breaker was much better on defence.
Something I find bothersome about payload's removal is that onslaught was supposed to have a focus on kills. Can you see the problem with that? Team deathmatch is literally completely focused on kills. Team death match is what onslaught tried to be but without a slow capture point in the center giving additional points. Knowing that team deathmatch is what onslaught was supposed to be but better at its job, (no capture point, completely kill focused) why wouldn't onslaught be replaced? We don't have a better payload like mode than payload, but we do have a better kill mode than onslaught.
I really hope payload returns revised in he future. I am also a bit disappointed that a horde mode that many people have wanted is not next on the agenda and it is instead battlegrounds. Battlegrounds to me sounds like one giant mess. I can already imagine a Jenos ulting in a specific direction and getting like 20 kills or more. Paladins is made to be a 5v5, I am certain this gameplay will not translate over well to battlegrounds.
Oh well, good bye payload, hello better onslaught.
I still really want a horde mode though ...
That's a pretty bold statement. Personally I like playing all 3. I find them all to be fun.
Scorch Fernando on primal court is a thing of beauty.
The team that pushes it all the way, wins, or the team with it on the enemy's side when the timer ends, wins.
Not what the Survey said. People voted Payload as the least favorite and played mode.
To be honest they have tried a lots of gamemodes, old seige with gates, seige, payload, survival, pve, tdm, soon battleground, which is good, but also bad because they cant decide which, and left Seige as the sole competitive mode alone.
Onslaught was popular from the moment it was introduced, way before quests, stop making silly statements.
