How does the rank system work??

Hey this is my first dicussion for Paladins and i just want to know how the ranking system works. Right now my Grover won 6 competitive games and 0 losses but im somehow still gold border. Does anyone know the answer why? Also my Viktor is platinum rank but have 2 provisional games remaining? Can someone explain how i got ranked early?
