Hmm I see. Well then i'll keep on trying I guess. Maybe it's because im playing with random scrubs on low level. I can never get close enough it seems with bombking and already get sniped.
Yeah that's mainly why I was so confused, at these low levels with the experience I have from overwatch im just rekking everyone.. and then pick bomb king and I haven't won a game with him yet lol.
Regardless, I love knocking them back into a corner or dropping the stun bomb around a wall so they get hit, then getting an easy 3-bang.
But yeah, if you are Bomb King enemies will almost prioritise you.
I tend to play him like a flanker compared to the other damage characters. As you will be focused if they see you but you can get that aoe and grumpy bomb in if you go from behind or the side.
There's about 2 main ways I typically see him played; CC first or Damage first.
CC First works as an area deny bot. Fairly straight forward, spamming Grumpy Bombs and Poppy Bombs on objectives (cooldown reduction and Jolt card can make this REALLY terrible for the enemy team), then stick stunned players with bombs and repeat. Personally, I think Poppy Bomb does enough on its own and Jolt is a horribly unfair card and likely to get changed at some point.
The downfall here is that the BK player tends to caught with his pants down by many flankers and little ability to get away.
If Damage first, you'll be focusing on the mobility of BK's Self-Launch and Air Control cards and WOW can Bomb King get around if you invest in those (I swear, some games it felt like I spent more time in the Air than Drogoz players). This relies a lot more on aiming ability as being able to actually hit people mid-air with decent accuracy reaps huge rewards. Basically, you'll rain death from above and constantly be flanking supports and damagers. Also, Flankers really seem to hate this kind of build because they'll be chasing you forever on certain stages.
The Primary downfall of the build is that the Sky-Box on certain stages is your enemy (if the stage doesn't allow you to get air, then you're losing a lot of potential).
Aside from that, be aware that BK can detonate bomb enroute. Quickly detonating bombs right in front of you is very useful for messy close-up fights. This allows you to get damage off around corners as well.
As for other advice. BK is probably one of the only damagers that should probably focus frontliners or other high HP characters as he can chunk their hitpoints or outright kill them, even denying healing abilities. Wrecker is often a MUST and pays off enormously when he starts vaporizing Fernando's and Ruckus'.
Sadly, due to the nature of his damage, getting top damage is difficult. The reason is more consistent damagers don't kill fast and healing gets worked in (basically they just keep racking up damage). When Bomb King scores hits they usually result in rapid//instant death. Basically, any damage he normally does contributes directly to assured kills (best I can describe it).

Yeah I had that problem a lot :P But what you wrote makes sense and it gives him a different playstyle than I was using for him. Though investing into cards I don't want to do yet since im still at the stage where im playing each champ to lvl 4 to try em out. But he does sounds fun if you play him like that.
He can stuns people with his biggest bomb and with his ultimate, which makes him super-useful in every situation (and these weapons do a lot of damage).
Also he can push away enemies with his "f"-bomb or using it to escape.
He can use his primary bombs at command and this is really useful for ambush or concentrated attack on one enemy.
As a frontline I'm always happy to see a Bomb King in my Team :D
