Picks aren't random, and it is based on elo. Higher the elo, higher up you'll be, which means you'll get to pick first. Lower the elo? last or almost last to pick.

You're elo is low yeah but you just have to play more to have a better elo

its based on a hidden MMR (match making rating) which is an ELO system but its not the same as Guru elo.

its random in the way that matchmaking picks 10 random people of a similar MMR so you may be at the top of that list, the bottom or somewhere in the middle.

If you are partying with someone with a higher MMR than you then you will be matched with players that have a higher average MMR than your personal MMR and will always be at the bottom

elo does not mean anything, and paladins guru elo is a joke, its not original elo so all that matters is ur rank border, ofc if u played all rank matches as solo.
