On sexualization

Yes, hot button topic, but hear me out.

So, in general, I’m not a fan of super-sexualized character designs. It’s hard for me to take a character seriously as a badass warrior if she’s falling out of her clothes and dressed like, frankly, a streetwalker. It’s also kinda dumb, unless sexuality is part of the point of the character (like the comic book character Empowered, and to a lesser extent Wonder Woman). The prevalence of jiggle physics and poses that thrust the breasts and hips into the camera does not help.

But then I found Ying. In her default skin (and before getting into some of the emotes), she’s actually one of the more conservatively-dressed ladies in the Realm. Her outfit is light and formfitting, but it’s not emphasized all that much. She’s not quite as bouncy as some of the other female characters, and her character select pose doesn’t place a huge focus on her physical attributes. The focus is on her grace and her magical powers.

Basically: Ying IS sexy, but it’s not to an absurd, exaggerated extent like, say, Skye and Lian. A female character doesn’t have to have a neckline almost to her belly button or a skirt that’s in danger of sliding down to be appealing.

At the risk of a thread doomed to go up in smoke, what do you guys think?

its all about preferences. i love my school girl and heartbreaker skye skins and my divine and jade princess seris skins. i think theyre fun and colourful. i was also on team free furia's thighs. i dont think the paladins champions are super sexualised but i'm not as immersed in the world and its characters as you are and you prefer cutesy and demure. i just like shooting things.

also, the least covered up is grover, that guy is running around naked!!!!!!!! and most covered up is moji.

I'm usually ok aslong as they fit the character. Seris? I can see it coming. And adding the sass too Cassie made her a really funny character to actually play as for me. I however didn't really like how they sexualized Maeves Demonette skin. But if the community wants it, then they're going to milk it the hell out of it, so nothing can really be said about it.
