How is your initial rank determined after placements?

Did my placements and won 4 games and lost 1 and did pretty well in each. Had good damage though not the highest and minimal deaths but I still only ended up with gold 4. I see some people end placements or with low level accounts go right to plat/diamond so not sure how it works.

All 5 games I was tank maybe its my objective time since that's a bit low (I was the off tank) so I was not really on the point except when helping my support or we needed someone on it.

Typically, in games like this, unless you placed high before it's going to start you low and let you grind. Ranked isn't really a measurement of skill, it's part of player retention in that you have to put in a lot of time to rank up.

I guess that makes sense just odd seeing people who are really low level (according to paladins guru) platinum and up, didn't look at ranked play history though.

Badges mean nothing. They exist to make 'pros' feel better.

Those low level acc who got placed in plats are usually smurfs that win all 5 matches,also low level acc gets 100 plus elo on winning their matches.

i botched my qualifiers because i dont have a diverse enough roster, not to say that it was solely my fault of course, but it stuck me in gold V with 2 wins 3 losses. i have no idea what my rank was before and i dont play a lot of ranked in general

I'm a lowish level account, just a bit under 70 so I don't know if that counts for anything.

Even the one who programed this don't know how it works...
I know that You will always end up plat or higher, If you was diamond or higher last reset. Even if You lost everything, with ♥♥♥♥♥, worst stats ever in each of this placements.
After game stasts, You feeded or carried, all of it means literally ♥♥♥♥ for placements and ranked games.
Welcome in ranked world of paladins, wher win/ loss ratio decides about everything.

Default is 1500 elo everyone starts there at start of season. Accounts upto level 30 gets high elo after that they start getting normal, the thing is low level accounts upto 30 if they get high elo on winning they also loses a lot on losing a match but smurfs and some lucky peeps who are having low level account gets 5 wins in a row reaches around 1900 to 2000 elo which is equivalent to high ranking diamonds and masters so game places them at plat or in some cases even diamond according to elo, At that time they start losing a lot of matches in a row and everyone complains about match making cos low level players are also pissed and high level players are also pissed.

After my placement matches my elo was at about 1720 which resulted getting placed at gold 4 so I guess that makes sense then. Though since I played one more match after that and lost so its gone down a bit, will be interested to see where I end up after next placements.
