So Older Champions got a 3X price increase while the Newer Champions get over 4X, That is Honestly worst then with the unbound card system, Atleast with the Old system, when you got the champion you could start farming Wotd chest's & level chest's for cards so Technically extra gold was never required ontop of the champion purchese so I dont see why your trying to put the Optional Card Purchese from the old system in an example of buying champions.
Edit: I get what you mean when you say "For some chance of being competitive" but we're not talking about the Prices of getting a Champion Top Tier, It's just the cost to even play the champion, Even when Essence was around, Card Grinding & Grinding for New Champions was Seperate & Didnt affect each other in Prices, And grinding wasn't 3X - 4X harder because of this, sure it took abit more but it worked well.
Even though I got the Founders Pack, I Still think this is Very unfair to New Players.
It's fair because it's easy.
You also can finish quests for additional gold and you get 2500 for every levelup of your profile
So all hi rez wanted is JUST TO REMOVE that system so some people on reddit wont bash them. They didn't think about making a new better system. Their target was only to remove negative comments on reddit.
So what do we have now? Old players have tons of gold and have nothing to do with it.
New players have 0 gold and no way to obtain it to buy themselves champions.
But bunch of people on reddit who was so loud about P2W are happy. Which is nice for game i guess. Screw new and old players. Reddit comments are more important for game health.
PS
I have Account Boost , VIP boost, doing good everygame and can only achieve 460~ gold per win. So it would only take me 130 games to buy 1 champ yaaaay. Good thing i have 700k gold and nothing to spend it on.
For a 60k champion it is 130 games.
But you also have to consider, that you get gold for daily login and for quests.
Also you need time to level a champion and get better. What use is it if you play the game for 2 weeks and you have 20+ champions already.
I've been playing for half a year, and just unlocked all the champions because I got so much gold after the new patch (only was lacking 3 champions though). I haven't played too much (300hours), but still, I prefer to master a few champions well instead of trying all out. Some of the champions I haven't even played once (e.g. snipers like Strix and Kinessa) because I don't like them.
I mean at 157 hours of playing paladins surely the $/£/€20 is worth it?
In your opinion what don't you like about it now?
not really. most of the buy champs can be very worth it.
They increased the cost at a ratio based on what they were priced at previously (before OB67), so its not like any heroes that were relatively avg price suddenly got boosted to the most expensive.
I don't know why the heroes have the cost differences they do, but whatever the reason, it just means that if you want to get the more expensive ones, you'll have to wait a little longer to save up for them.
If you'd prefer instant gratification, at least the option is there to spend your pennies, if you think it's worth it.
