Best playstyle for Ying?
I downloaded Paladins last night because I was bored and wanted to see if it was as any good as I've heard it to be. When I started playing, I really enjoyed the Champions and their concepts. I typically play Healer (Ying would be my most played atm) and it's very fun. I was wondering if someone could help me learn a good playstyle and/or strategy. How should I start the game, how should I play most of it, when should I use certain abilities, ect, ect. Thank you for your time~

Hopefully someone with some solid Ying experience and knowledge will step in, but in the meantime, I would suggest you invest a little time in some of the more 'popular' and perhaps, slightly easier (easier, as in easier to provide more benefit to your teammates while learning).

Seris, Jenos, Mal'Damba are three very popular Support Champs that people know and are popular for a reason (overall, very good, consistent healing even with only average players).

There's no harm in spending time with Ying, but if you play those four regularly, you'll proably find you're able to out-heal your performance with Ying with the other three I mentioned - and do it with less 'hassle', giving yourself more time to consider being evasive, dealing with flanks and keeping track of who needs healing when.

Once you feel you are fairly consistent with those three (or only one or two of those three), then see how you feel with Ying. You will realise how different Ying plays and may re-consider whether you still want to focus on learning to improve your Ying skills, or focus a bit more on other healers.

In any case, good luck, hope you keep enjoying the game and always glad to have another solid Support player around. ;-)

YIng is quite easy to play, but I don't suggest you focus on playing her most of the time, you should branch out, try as many champions as you possibly can, to learn their abilities and how to counter them. Now back to Ying: about her talents, the best one in my opinion is Focusing Lens, whether you want to play Ying agressively or passively, that talent always comes in handy. The other talent that you should pay attention to is Lifelike. But have in mind that Lifelike works best in a grouped up team (e.g. team with two front lines). About the items - I suggest you max out Morale Boost as soon as you can, since Ying's ultimate is a very powerful ability and is good for pressuring the enemy or launching a counter attack. About her abilities - Illusions - try to place them in places where you can heal your allies, but the enemy can't reach them (near the wall, on high ledges etc.) Shatter - Try to use shatter as little as possible. Your team needs you illusions, so don't shatter them. Use shatter only to finish off low hp enemies (preferably in a 1v1 situation). Dimensional Link- use it only when necessary (to escape). This ability has a high cooldown, and wasting just to cover some distance can lead to death. Try not to place your illusions too close to each other, otherwise your Dimensional Link won't be very useful. These are the basics, ying can be played in several ways, but it's best you figure it out yourself. Try different things, and see which playstyle fits you the best. Good luck!

Spam Q and stay near the team/tank

well to play ying first of all, you need a good loadout, import one from the top ying players, or use google, a loadout that can spam clones infinitely is a good loadout, spamming q is ur priority, ying works well with makoa and fernando since u can place the clones withint shield range and they will barely die and just spam out heals, it's the same with every champion just get a good positioning and learn how to manage your own health as well, and don't forget to use ur escape dimensional link.

you'll need to place clones far apart from eachother so whenever you use dimensional link you can easily dodge skillshot champs at least, like evie drogoz bombking makoa :=)

I main ying and she is definitely fun. Here's some tips-ish(?)
• The farther you can put your clone, the better.
• Your clones can block most attacks, even drogoz ult
• If you are cornered by an annoying flanker, place a clone right below you and use your clone as a shield. (this has saved me many times)

• Ying's Ult can make you use your teleportation to teammates.
EX: When you just got respawned and the cart is pretty far, use your ult and quickly teleport to your teammates.
• For talents I typically use focusing lens, if there are 2 frontliners, use the one that can heal 2 teammates at the same time for 20% less
• Map Awareness is a must, as much as possible if some of your teammates are being aggressive, try to put clones near them. I usually always put increase range of my clones in the cards.
• Don't spam your teleport (F), althought it can help sometimes, a good player can wait for you to teleport back into place and kill you.

The rest is up to you and play some causal matches and practice.

Ying is an offensive support and most of the time you NEED to use the dmg+ legendary to not be killed on 1 or 2 seconds and deal huge dmg on tanks
she doesnt have a great heal but its quite nice on some onslaught map and mostly on the tdm map

BTW no avg player can do good with dmaba as it is high skilled ceiling champ, and you know it very well too. Currently both ying and damba needs tons of skills to master in terms of healer
My experaince is simple, don't bother to cater to what other people say, find a talent card you love and make a playstyle around it, the "Meta" is only a suggestion, trust me a ying who knows what she is doing is going to out do a ying following the meta

I suggest you to play other champions. Ying is weak currently because hirez nerf her to death.

I see a lot of Yings lately... It is a little annoying as tank though, because you have to search for the clones sometimes with some Yings. Maybe I should try her out, to better understand the placement of the clones and people's playstyle.

Ying is kinda like grohk in that regard they really have to commuicate to you what they are doing otherwise its just heals from themselves
Lunedai May 24, 2018 @ 1:14pm
Yes that is true. Some Yings and Grohks can heal a crazy amount and also they can heal the whole team unlike Seris who is usually busy enough with keeping alive 2 tanks.
