The Salty person speaks the truth!
The Salty person have no idea what it is talking about. It just sad cuz this abomination unbound system will gone to hell soon. Some people was very happy to make themselves better then others just by grinding\paying.
In bound modes level 4 cards are weak af, say goodbye to proper builds for tanks and healers. Who hit LMB better - wins, no need to make builds, make counter-picks, counter-items etc, just aim-shoot-win. This is not what this game was about before ob64. In unbound modes tanks and healers are closer to what they was before ob64, but when most cards are high level it makes game chaotic like some CoD, unbalanced and with p2w or grind2win elements (hello asian f2p games with tons of grind and paying to become better, glad it will gone soon).
And yes 100-150 was enough for unlocking every champ with every card, it was enough for me, then it was enough for everyone who didn't spend gold for useless skins. After about 50hrs you could get tons of essence just by opening chests with cards.
Yes it was still grindy, but it was fair grind. You play the game, you meet champs, you learn stuff, you buy what you need, few more hours and you can buy everything. With unbound yes, you just buy a champ and you have everything. But you forced to play 2 modes - one with sooooo weak cards and the other with pay\grind2win system. Nah it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It is awesome they realised how they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up with unbound and now they going to change it back and without most of grind for new players. Hoo-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-ray!
Agreed, the old system allowed full card unlocks in record time due to essence chaining. Every duplicate card was more essence for the cards you wanted. It was trivially easy to max out your card collection which is probably why the devs changed the system in the first place to a grind hell that takes years of effort. Bound Cards mode ruined the game, removing variety of play and build customization from champions that at their base were hardly balanced. The fools who pushed for and supported that system continued to spread misinformation as though it was somehow a superior system that solved all problems in Paladins.

So here's the true information clearup:

1) It wasn't superior, it was inferior, evident by the fact that it's being removed after only 3 months. A superior system would have thrived, this one floundered. What elitists actually mean is that it was superior for them since they wanted a free to play game that required minimal grinding (unlock only characters I want, done) as though this is the next League of Legends and their toxic community is piling into it.

2) It nerfed everyone involved in the game by removing the old card system in favor of capped lvl 4 cards that were nowhere near as powerful, ruining months of balance testing in a heartbeat, introducing even more overpowered options to setback competitive gameplay, noticeably changing the playstyles of the characters veterans had come to love. Call of Duty: Paladins Warfare was plainly evident and the game had devolved into a straight shooter instead of an RPG shooter.

3) It was homogenizing unbalanced characters which leads to very noticeable outliers. We may as well be playing DOTA or LoL with no items, just base characters. No items means no counterplay, no customizing team synergy, no specializing roles. The game devolves into pick-counterpick with absolutely nothing you can do about getting hardcountered by selecting a different setup. Level 4 cards were WEAK and ineffective.

Yes ofc, the old system was way better :)
I played bound either way but I'm happy the old loadout system will be back. That's the only thing I didn't like about unbound.
One thing I like about Unbound; I was able to discover more playstyles with every champion which I couldn't before cuz cards weren't free.

well, with the new update all cars will be still unlocked, so you dont have to worry about that.

anyway. I'm really excited and happy about the new ("old-ish") Card System. I defently play more often when it hits the Live Server and maybe going to buy the all Champions Pack.
i quit after cards unbound but i got the news today and i am planing to reinstall i was boycotting there games for so long it feels like
i really loved paladins and i happy that there new direction is good i heard they got a new team member working on paladins
I never minded cards unbound, But saying it didn't decrease the player base would just be a white lie. So I'm hoping that this means the player base will come back.

Before unbound system 100-150 hours could give you all champs with all cards without spending a cent. Only Dota 2 gives access to content faster (it's all open from beginning). Cards unbound force you to grind af or pay a ♥♥♥♥ ton of money because level 1 cards are useless. So... you have >700hrs in game, wtf...
Well I played old style cards and new and much prefer the new. I mean really it's not that hard to gather the daily chests and quests and I never had any trouble doing so with lvl 11 loadouts or 10 in some cases. But games these days need to be easier I suppose :D And even if people would spend a bit of money on the game tis is a free game, not like anyone had to pay $40 for it.

I agree with you too, it is 'casual' I tell people that all the time when they start whining about me or someone else not playing tank or healer >.> if they really wanted to take the game serious then yeah play comp where it's not...casual xD

Ohhh I have all champions and probably most loadouts for (the champs I like and use) are about 40+ for like ten champions or so the rest being 10-20 and my highest being 51 I think with just 250ish hrs...mor like 200 probably since I played before the update too.
I'm happy but I'm also kinda disappointed, but mostly because how unbound was introduced back in December. If the old system was never has been replaced (like they keep the 12/15 pick system.) and they give an aditional gamemod where all the card can reach level 10 then that would have been a fine system. You have balanced system but if you want to play some crazy game you can pop on the other mod. But the past is past.
The introduction of cards unbound reminded me of the movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

After unbound, you got all the cards for free - except if you were a brainless noob who would pay to level cards for casual trash-noob mode...

And it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to say that you had unlocked the games content within 100-150 hours pre-OB64. Yes, maybe you unlocked all the champs, but you still didn't have nearly all loadout cards, and definitely not more than one legendary card per champion. So the whole beloved customization of decks and playstyles was locked behind a hard grind (or a paywall)...

In summary: the opposite of what you claim is true. Before OB64, you had many hundreds of hours of gameplay to be able to play all champs with all playstyles/loadouts. After OB64, you had full access to ALL content in bound modes (and only noobish crybabies deny the fact that they indeed had full access to all content just because they are mentally incapable to click on the right game mode button). Don't spread misinformation. Thank you.

I am VERY happy. Paladins with unbound and the promise of armageddon battlegrounds seemed like Paladins was headed for a premature death. Unbound being removed and battlegrounds being separated into its own game shows a much brighter future for Paladins.
I for one never liked the idea of a battlegrounds mode for Paladins, but I might like it as a separate game.
