On the other hand you get a lot of games, where your team mates, are drooling imbeciles with 4 hours of game play and the game ends in a stomp where the longest round was the time between rounds.
It's a frustrating balance, when it's right it's good when it's not it's awful, you play ranked for those few games that are good because they are at least more frequent the pubs.
I have stoped when They introduced tryliard rank resets per season, only thing this ♥♥♥♥ is doin for me its making me play with throwers and trolls each reset. So Yeah, I pass on that. Im not masochist.
Maybe devs think that way, well they have some right, cuse Im still playing this game but not on that scale...
If they didn't give out the free stuff, I'd never go there. It's the opposite of enjoyable. The developers have made zero attempts to make it less garbage, refuse to enforce behavioral rules, and don't seem to care at all about the rampant smurfs and awful russians who go there exclusively to make life miserable for everybody else in the team.
There's also no indicators, charts, or anything you can reference to see if a player's good.
For a mode with such a simple mission statement, to provide better quality matches, it sure fails in every way I could think of. Paladins easily has the most pathetic ranked/comp mode I've experienced.
I'd argue it was dead long before that. Also, having splits and seasons isn't uncommon for actual comp modes. If they simply enforced their own rules, and actually banned or put garbage people on timeout, the mode would gradually recover. I had someone tell me just today that I should totally accept and put up with the bad behavior, because 'it's like any moba, bro.'
I keep seeing same people siting in same tables on GM and M rank, like They were sitting before this reset ♥♥♥♥ show... So Yep looks like its another high-rez marvelous treatment.... Treatment which do ♥♥♥♥.
That would be logical, the only problem is it made things even worse, bacause it made MM worse and in this chaos it actually made it easier for pro parties and duos to climb, and gave them even more advantages. And isn't ranked supposed to be for getting proper balanced matches in the first place?
But in this Stack I am making a break, because I got only trash teams at the beginning of the new Season Stack, so I couldn't even make my way out of Platin, even though I was Master last season stack.
The problem is, that you can't play in groups at high levels, so you always get random teammates. And if you are unlucky like me, you end up with teams, where you deal more DMG as a tank, then both your DMG together, while protecting your backline.
Match Making is cancer in this game, I know. But I am just a big fan of Competetive-Play in general.
It's because the 'masters' and 'grandmasters' farm eternal diamond players in duos, and the game itself also doesn't tell you that people are grouped up.

It's a bit of a farce, honestly. I come from fighting games, and actual competitive shooters. Paladins is a very fun and great game - in casual. Ranked is just suffering, and seems designed to satisfy the eternal GMs with their ancient borders that totally prove they're mega skilled.
50% of my games in Diamond last about 15-20 minutes, games over 20 minutes are like 10% maybe.
I'd say 70% of my games are 3/3 in ranked and 30% are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ roll overs.
