A lot of people play ranked, but the matchmaking system has more steps, all 10 players must click the 'I want to play this match,' and then the match begins.

Certain regions have dead ranked modes, like Japan and Australia. Select EU or NA for shorter times.

The higher your rank, the longer the wait. Being in a party greatly increases the time it takes to find a match. The bigger the party, the bigger the wait, and plat wait times can be long already. Once you hit the three highest levels, the game for some reason limits you to 2 man duos, despite this totally e-sports focused videogame, that was made to be competitive, features 5v5 esports teams facing off on their SKILLSHOT streams. Also, during qualifiers, you're sorted into whatever match there is room. Sometimes, you wait a long time, other times, you don't wait at all. Once you have an initial rank, matches will be slow to start until you 'settle,' which takes about 10 real matches. You can safely ignore what happened before your rank settled in.

Paladins ranked is one big ball of contradictions.

My experience in ranked is people are much more toxic. I play to have fun and de-stress, and while I usually do well, I don't want to hear people freaking out for 1 bad effort...

Not excusing the awful people there, but ranked and comp implies sweaty, min-max, actually winning at all costs kind of gameplay. If you don't like that kind of attitude and outlook, which isn't at all related to the constant throwers and griefers, and garbage children who complain that someone took 'lego #1' when they know 'lego #3' is better, then you're not gonna have a good time there.

People barely play it now in its current state. SEA and Australian ranked are dead. GM 5 stackers ruining casual games because they can’t play ranked together.

Rework ranked to be just like TDM/Onslaught where high elo 5 stacks go on 60+ winning sprees in order to stop abuse of the system?

A lot of people still play ranked. Some people switched to casual but ranked is still a great mode for people who are a bit more serious about the game. People exagerate a lot, its not that bad, queue is 1-2 mins (I have been diamond master and grandmaster trust me its fast). Drafting also makes the game more interesting, atleast for me. Its reslly depends on people, if you play casually or just want to have fun > casual, if you want to play the real game and have a challenge climbing ranks > ranked
