Can't install on Steam?
Hello. I'm trying to reinstall this game after having not played for a while. Used to be pretty into it, got to level 30, then got burned out and played other stuff.

However, whenever I try to run the client through Steam after downloading, it says, "Cannot find the Hi-Rez installation" and then it doesn't run. I tried to download the installer directly from the website, but it says something like my video card can't run Shader 3 models or something for Smite? I'm not trying to play Smite! I'm trying to play Paladins!

Paladins ran fine for me before, you can see in my account I have over 100 hours in it. Why would it suddenly not run now?

I don't know what else to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Maybe. I manually deleted the Hi-Rez files I had before, and maybe that's causing the Steam launcher to mess up?

I'll see if that's the case. Gimme a sec.

EDIT: Found the files in the Steam folder, and trying to launch it directly gives me a new error: "Failed to initialize assembly file".

I'm not the biggest computer buff, I'm just wanting to play a game, but this is really throwing me for a loop. I downloaded the repair tool, maybe I can do something with that.

Go inside your Paladins folder, and look for a folder called "redist".
Try to run everything in there, see if this helps.
Edit: run either x86 or x64 depending on your system.

This did the trick: The launcher opened.

Gonna let it update and hope no other problems emerge. I'll update this post if this is the case. Thank you both for your help!
