Mal'Damba is a good healer, yes, but he's not that strong. His gourd need to be combined with his RMB to even get near Ying's level of heal. His stun on the other hand, is stopped cold by tier 2 resilience. Remember, if a Mal is going to flank, that means he's not healing anyone and is a ripe target for any half-competent flank.
Also, Ying not being able to outclass Mal'damba at range? Lulz mate, have you ever played Ying? her mirror-laser thing beat Mal's cobra anytime. Combine that with shatter too, for added damage and a better escape skill. Mal'damba is certainly not bad but he's not too strong either.
He's one of the most balanced and fun champ to play as.
Ying's range isn't very far and neither is Mal' Damabas BUT if Mal' Damba is close enough to Ying for Ying to be able to hit Mal'Damba can stun lock, and with most people going Skye, Ruckus ect in the queues I end up in it's harder to survive all that direct damage with 2300 health as Ying making Haven better use of points when Mal' Damba is the only stun on that team. If Bomb King or Sha Lin were on the same team as Mal' Damba I would go resiliance but if it's just Mal' Damba and there's a Direct damaging character with fast fire rate like Ruckus Ying Victor Tyra and others you're better off getting Haven to last longer and avoid Mal' Damba at all costs, tanks are bullet sponges most people aim for meaning you're better off just going Haven and Mal' Damba doesn't have to flank to spam reload and he's still a hard target for flanks if you're targets are direct back line dps characters. So getting Resiliance isn't the most useful way to spend money all the time. [/quote]
I agree that buying Resilience all the time is simply not viable, and I must admit that I rarely buy Resilience, too. That's not because Mal'damba is inherently strong or weak, but because I'm the type of player who evaluate the threat of another player based on their skill, not what champion they're currently using. Suffice to say, I met a lot of bad Mal'damba players that simply rush forward to stunlock me and then die because he miscalculated the odds of him surviving getting shoot at on the enemy's back line. That's the thing about game; the danger of any champions is based directly on how good their players are. A bad Mal'damba will rush, try to stun and die (Assuming that your damage dealer is at least competent enough to exploit his recklessness) a good Mal'damba stay back, heal, and find the best time to stun people (e.g, When a frontline is going back to recover)
Mal'damba have weakness, (such short range, longest reload time in game besides Buck, lackluster escape without card, healing that requires good aiming) that could be exploited by any decent player just like every champion in game.
Good day to you my friend :D
