AMD A4-6300 w/ Radeon HD graphics (AMD Radeon 8370D) to Radeon HD5450?
hi guys I got this AMD A4–6300 APU with radeon hd graphics and when I check my Dxdiag the display shows that i have AMD Radeon 8370D, I search on web that this is better, but I have NO grahpics card yet inserted to my motherboard/CPU, which means it’s onboard also i got 4GB RAM only. With this, I noticed that my gaming is a bit laggy, not smooth. I played Aion,DotA2, Paladins, LOL etc.
Then it came to my mind to put this Sapphire Radeon HD5450. I reinstalled/updated the needed application for this. I tried to play the game and I didn’t experience lag anymore and it the games are running smoothly . even I got 120ms+ ping, its ok to play..
Can someone explain why is this so?
Did I do the right thing?

Because you bought the dedicated graphics card. How many fps do you have? im a bit curious to my current specs.

Dedicated cards are better, the CPU doesnt have to share the processing like with an Integrated GPU which offers a little more performance when it comes to PCs lacking performance. The RAM isnt shared either like it is with an Integrated GPU.

The APU is a low level CPU/Integrated GPU, so the 5450 is a SMIDGE better but not by much.

And your ping has nothing to do with your GPU.
-

As for if you did the right thing, id have to say no, depending on how much you paid for that GPU.

You would have been much better off getting a GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti at the most, but i assume you got the 5450 for hella cheap so eh..
-

But yeah, as long as its working better than before then yes you did the right thing, but wrong choice of GPU is all.
-

Next thing you really need to do is upgrade your RAM to 8GB, 4GB is really the bare minimum these days. You'll see an increase in performance in everything with 8GB.

Can someone explain why is this so?

Because having your CPU process graphics on top of everything else is almost always inferior to just using a dedicated graphics card. Much less when it's a relatively weak dual-core CPU from 2013. Putting in a dedicated graphics card means the card is processing the graphics instead while the CPU handles everything else.

Did I do the right thing?

Did you already have the GPU? I hope you didn't go out and overpay for that as it's a really old and outdated card (2009). Otherwise yes, you did.

Because you bought the dedicated graphics card. How many fps do you have? im a bit curious to my current specs.

I'm using an HD7750 (another outdated card) and I get a steady 120fps for the most part, occassionaly momentary dips down to 30fps due to poor game optimization.

The graphics in this game are very low by modern standards. You'll probably be fine so long as you aren't using some early 2000's card or a laptop that doesn't even have a card.

Im using 6570 powercolor and its literally unplayabke on casual, i can only play test maps due to the lack of details.
I bought my old 750ti for 40 bucks off eBay(recently upgraded to 1060ti so I don't use it anymore),so I hope you didn't pay more than that for a crappy 2009 card.
whoww!! too many replies thanks guys... i got 20-40fps.. it's just good.. I got same fps without graphics card but i dont know why it's running smooth now
hmmm . i just get this graphics card from my fathers unused PC..
i think i gotta change this graphics card?
does anyone have suggestion?
and what's GPU? hehe sorry... is this the one AMD A4-6300?
CPU is the Central Processing Unit. It is in charge of all the commands of the computer and will also calculate graphics if you don't have a GPU, but it's not as good as an actual card.

GPU is Graphics Processing Unit, also known as a "Graphics Card". It is specifically designed to calculate graphics.

AMD A4-6300 is a CPU.
HD5540 is a GPU.

I would suggest you go out and buy a more modern card like the GTX 750 TI or GTX 1050. These are low end cards that will still manage to at least run most modern games, and they're only like $40-$60. You should have absolutely no problem getting 120fps with one of those cards.
