Also who tf is skye ripping off?
As for the other bit, fanboys will accuse plagiarism for everything. Let's look at overwatch. It took a lot of things from TF2, the gamestyle, the classes etc.
Widowmaker is basically female sniper.
Tracer is a sexy version of Scout with 2 pistols as guns(scout has a pistol as secondary.)
Reinhardt is Heavy with shield.
Torbjorn is basically Engineer 2.0
Mercy is Medic with wings. Again, sexy version of him.
Sombra is punk-goth-something sexy version of Spy.
Reaper looks a hell of a lot like Ghost Rider.
I think you get the point by now.
Every single game developer out there takes inspiration from games they like or something in real life they like and they put it in the game. Is it plagiarism? Not really. Only fanboys will claim so, and honestly fanboys shouldn't be listened to.
Edit: Who the ♥♥♥♥ is skye "copying" ?
Your argument is old, I've seen this too much. Nothing wrong with female masculinity, I'm not here to bring up SJW stuff.
Man, I sure do xD
You think you can stretch it any further?
Last 2 paragraphs about Ash, Skye, Fernando, and Barik are where you're wrong though.
Here's a picture of Heavy from TF2, Zarya[hydra-media.cursecdn.com] from OW, and Ash[criticalhits.com.br]. From Paladins obviously.
Take a look at their weapons, take note of how they all have similar shapes and sizes. The thing is, the way all three of these characters hold these weapons - to their side, with one hand on the back and another towards the front - is just the most comfortable way to hold that kind of big, anti-personnel weapon. It's not "ripping off", it's just the most common-sense design out there for this character archetype. I'd bet money that there are more characters from other Hero-based games (LoL, Dota, etc.) that use this exact same pose for their "heavy gunner" characters.
Hell, now that I look at it, Zarya's grip is far more similar to the Heavy than to Ash. Zarya and Heavy both have their hands on the top of their guns, on handles located on the back and middle of the gun. Ash has one hand on the top and back of her gun, and the other hand goes on a handle on the side and front of her gun, which she also uses to reload. So I won't say your opinion is wrong, I'm saying your premise is factually incorrect.
Now there's more to their designs than just posture - we have their "masculine" qualities as you claim, except they're expressed entirely differently. Zarya wears a tank top or vest of some sort, which exposes her bulging muscles on her forearms. Ash meanwhile wears a heavy set of Gothic armor that covers her from neck to toe. Zarya's design foregoes practicality for intimidation, while Ash goes for a combination of both intimidation and practicality. There isn't anything particularly masculine about it other than "guys like knights, explode-y guns, juggernauts, etc."
TL;DR if you bother to look at the nuances of each of their designs you'll realise Zarya and Ash are two completely different and unique characters that only hold their guns the same because holding it any other way would be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid.
And finally about Barik, Skye, and Fernando who you accuse of being OW knock-offs...I don't know how many times this is going to have to be said...all three of those characters were revealed before Overwatch was. Those characters existed before Overwatch's characters were revealed. Do your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ research.
Edit: maybe I was too harsh, I know you're all for Hi-Rez making a better game. But Hi-Rez doesn't need to go through any loop-de-loops to make insane designs just so people won't make comparisons - because they're going to make comparisons, OW and Paladins both share the same genre and there's only so many different archetypes to go off of.
People will ALWAYS compare games of the same genre.
Get off the high horse, characters existed long before overwatch came to exist. No one is copying anything, now quit with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
LIKE NO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ DAWG! Your examples are boarderline retarded.
No? Then ♥♥♥♥ right off inbred ♥♥♥♥.
