GRID 2
Intel AVX instructions for grid 2
In the graphics settings there are two options Advanced Blending(Intel), and 2. Smoke Shadows(Intel). From what ive found so far AVX is required to support these. I have a laptop witha 2670qm which supports avx, but these two options won't come up. Am i missing something?

I think you need to run the avx exe instead of the normal one in the games folder.
no you need intel haswell
I'm curious to see if it'll be something I can play around with on my 3770k.
It will become future DLC!!!
in 3770k work this options? enable 2 options graphics?
It's for the new GPU included in the Intel Haswell microprocessors. You can't enable them without one.
What is those 2 options my friend have a fresh new intel PC and the 2 options can't be enabled.
Looks like I'm having trouble getting it enabled. Supposedly my CPU (and board) can support it.

Just installed the drivers for the HD4000 too. Running *avx.exe didn't help.

EDIT: Just read that the options aren't available unless you're running the game dedicated on the chipset. IE: You can't use a dedicated video card and have these options available.

Edit-Edit: This whole thing is just confusing. AVX instruction set is available, running the AVX executable and yet I'm still not seeing the option. I do see people running with AVX options enabled, but everyone and their mom is tight-lipped about it which is just starting to tick me off. You need at least Windows 7 SP1 to enable the instruction set, but that's as far as I've gotten.

As has been said those effects are for Intel Haswell Processors only and you must ONLY be using the integrated GPU, the HD 4600. It's not going to work on a 3770k because that ia Ivy Bridge. If you look up Intel Pixel Sync you can read about the tech but they are basically just effects for ultrabooks/notebooks and low end desktops with no discrete GPU.

All AVX mode does is improve performance on CPU's which can use it, which inlcudes both Intel and AMD CPUs.
It would be nice if there was some clear information about this from the developers.

Yes it would! It took a fair bit of research to find out since it's not really clear but it's not selectable for a reason so don't worry about them. I think the reason the devs haven't advertised it is because it's really something Intel should be doing like Nvidia do for PhysX.

Frankly, the Intel specific options should be hidden entirely then. I'm a bit OCD, but it's annoying to have some options that will forever be set to "Off" simply because of implementation. That said, knowing that the AVX build of the executable can improve performance makes me want to do more benchmarks. If only said benchmarks were truly benchmarks and not just an AI race.
you know its funny becouse it worked for me on the begining and sadly i needed to do a format of system and now it dosnt work...
x) Why can’t I use advanced Intel features with my Intel graphics card?

GRID 2 supports some advanced graphical features (located within the Graphics menu) developed specifically for the latest Intel hardware. These features require an "Intel Graphics 5200" or newer graphics card in order to function. These features are not supported by older Intel graphical hardware such as the "Intel HD Graphics 3000" or "Intel HD Graphics 4000" cards - if these are being used the advanced Intel options will be seen as disabled

--from the readme_en.html file just found it

I found a way to enable the avx(Intel Advanced Vector Extensions) options for any pc. In your grid 2 installation folder there is a folder called "system". Inside "system" you will find a file called "hardware_settings_options". Open that file. Change <option name="on" lng="lng_on" dx11Only="true" intelExtensionsOnly="true"> to <option name="on" lng="lng_on" dx11Only="true" intelExtensionsOnly="false">. This line shows up twice, so remember to change both. After you do this, save the file and run the game from "grid2_avx.exe" in your grid 2 installation folder.

Done
Now "Smoke Shadows(Intel)" and "Advanced Blending(Intel)" will no longer be greyed out!
