Performing first time setup

Every damned time I launch this game it wants to go through a setup procedure that takes minutes to wade through. WTF?

Nobody else is experiencing this? Every time I launch this thing I have to sit through Microsoft Net Framework setup.

This is getting tiring.

From my personal experience and for what I have found on internet, there are four possible solutions: (I recommend 3rd.)

1. If it's stuck on everytime installing MS .NET Framework, just uninstall it completely before installing it again.

2. Delete installscript.vdf files in game directory:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\grid 2\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010 for Visual C++ Redistributable Package
...\Steam\steamapps\common\grid 2\_CommonRedist\DotNet\3.5 for .NET Framework
...\Steam\steamapps\common\grid 2\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010 for DirectX

3. Do a 2nd solution and this one before launching the game. Open regedit and navigate to:
if 32bit system: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam\Apps\,
if 64bit system: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Valve\Steam\Apps\,
look for entry name CommonRedist and check inside /.NET/3.5/ if value for "3.5 SP1" is set to "1" or if you don't know what are you doing, you can just delete whole CommonRedist entry.

4. Delete _CommonRedist folder which located in ...\Steam\steamapps\common\grid 2\. Then Steam should just ignore first time setups, because there is no setup files.

I have been having the same problem, and have found the solution:

1. Navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\DotNet" in File Explorer
2. Rename the folder "3.5" to "_3.5"
