before need for speed shift, no game ever heard of cockpit view, besides F1 formula. you guys are starting to get spoiled over here...no cockpit view instantly means you wont buy a perfectly fine game? what kind of nonsense is that?

also, i prefer to use a steering wheel, because it has a more direct touch. with keyboard keys, it always happens that you will either lose speed in a turn, or accelerate too quickly, i want to stay on an equal speed, so i use pedals.

i want to go with the direction of the road im riding on, so i use a steering wheel. i hate it to press a keyboard button the whole time once every second just so i can follow a turn. i prefer to move my steer a little to the left or right so i can ride smoothly.

i will miss the rearview and side mirrors though - but to not buy the game? That was what I was addressing.

Yes, they have to learn that they can't just remove a important thing from a game. If you still buy it they will just say "Hey we can do whatever we want, they will buy it anyway".

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Old games like GTR 2 have cockpit view too. Forza 3 has cockpit view, Grid 1 had cockpit view, Colin Mcrae DiRT had a cockpit view too. Even Project Torque have cockpit view. Shift is not the first game with cockpit view. Cockpit view is something that every racing game should have.

Just go to the forza motorsport forum and ask them if they would be the next game if it doesn't had cockpit view. http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/Forums/ They will probably ignore you because they think you are trolling.

what's the point of using a racing wheel if we don't have a cockpit view anyway?

lol, that is so moronic i can't even begin to pick it apart in seriousness. i agree that there should be a cockpit view and i STILL think you're a moron lol.

Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel. that's my baby :P

No you're the moron.
these developers have to work towards the hardware that the average end users has. believe it or not the average user of steam is using an INTEGRATED video. The cockpit view requires more memory (video) and yada, yada you get my point.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. How do other games manage to have cockpit view? Do you ever notice some fps drop when you switch from third person view into first person view?

They are just bullshiting us and you guys believe them.
If you look at Shift2 for example, with one of the better cockpit views, you see the environment has been turned down a notch. The Grid Devs decided to dedicate more memory and processing power to the handling model and environmental eye candy. Not too hard to understand is it? There is a dedicated cockpit view thread BTW. Take cockpit discussions there.
I think the handling and wheel support will be something special in Grid2. We'll see. ;)
I think Shift 2 is a great game (with an excellent cockpit view!) but one thing that annoys me to death is the lag in shifting. I use a G27 so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it but does anyone know if that lag will be in Grid2?

Shift 2 and 1 is casual ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Actually there's a noticeable FPS drop on my computer in SHIFT 2 between 'console cockpit' (the cockpit camera we see everywhere, where you're in the driver's eyes, is only good if you play with a controller, it's redundant if you have a wheel) and hood view. Plus there's the limited console hardware CM have to take into account.

But I'm pretty confident someone will make a camera hack (or rather an XML edit) and we'll have a basic cockpit camera.
The "Official Xbox 360 Wheel" should read "Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel":

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Racing-Wheel/dp/B000VBIGK4/

Because this thing is the new official wheel:

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Speed-Wheel/dp/B0050SY0L2/

... or they should both be listed if they're both supported (I can vouch that the Wirless Racing Wheel worked in Dirt 2 & 3 really well).
Any word on the Fanatec CSW? How about the Clubsport v2 pedals?

It does? With force feedback?

Cool, I was planning on picking that up. Will I need to also have a wireless reciever for my PC (like the one that comes with the 360 Windows controller) to use the wireless wheel?

Edit: nevermind, these folks answered my question. http://amazon.com/gp/community-content-search/results/ref=cm_cr_dp_srch?query=pc&idx.asin=B0050SY0L2

Much appreciated for natively supporting Rumblepad 2. We Rumblepad 2 users are being neglected nowadays...
Is steering liniarity still the same as the first game? 5 feels really twitchy.
