The first mission in Series I seems to be broken. I've been the first one to destroy 3 AI's in a PvE match several times now and nothing.

It's not, it's just poorly worded / worded in a confusing way. You need to achieve 3 kills before ANYONE can score one.

Use low-tier PVP for this mission. It's easy.
