There are players just enopugh for PvP games at normal EU day/evening time. And players enough to play PvE.
Player base is small, but just enough to play some game. Tho you have to wait a bit like 1-2 min during day time for PvP.
I'll think on it, then.
I don't think the non-steam clients make a big difference. I would guess the player base that play daily/couple times a week is few hundred players (most of them probably play PvE only) and players who play once in a while is couple thousand maybe.
Don´t buy premium time if you think that the game won´t last much longer. You can play just fine up to tier 5-6 without premium (and even beyond, the grind becomes much slower though).
Stand alone player base is big
PvE any time of day any tier pretty quick to instant to get in a match
PvP more dependent on time of day - low tier very quick as bots in tiers 1 to 3 to make up teams, I was getting 15v15 PvP up to tier 5 although that included tier 3's recently
Spec Ops (a PvE mode) dependent on time of day and also players being on the same chapter and tier as you, with only one chapter so far released for current one its not a bad wait time usually at high tier.
GLOP's (a PvP mode) really enjoyed it but was very long waits and high tier only, but I have not tried for a while, used to love the mode though.
Most people do not chat in a match, got more things to do that bother about it - in my PvP matches I only see the odd person talk - usually moaning at other players or trying to tell people how to the game and where to go.
I would not say I would see a preponderance of Russian (they are not the only people who use Cyrillic letters) most matches not chat at all
I'll say it now, this is just my opinion and I'm not speakin for all players. But I believe there are players who have close to same view as I have.
In end game where is only few tanks left, the communications can be quite crucial.
You don't need to write some big brain master plans to chat. Only couple words or sentence can make the difference for team play and setting right plan to win the game.
There will always be moaners. That is really typical for certain nation people that I won't mention here. It is really big cons for this to not having much players that speak/respond english in chat if needed and personally for me it's quite frustrating to see a lot people talking in chat, but they speaki language that you understand very little, but I do understand when they are moaning, because I know their curse words and they usually type CAPSLOCK on then :D
In a game with many many languages and players from all over the world, players suffering from "Dunning Kruger" who believe theirs is the only way to play and win - then chat in game is pointless with randoms - playing as a platoon on voice coms is much much better
I see obnoxious chat and griefing from all nations in chat (posted up more from US - which has a smaller player base than Russia) - but that is my experience as a UK player who due to jobs worked all round the clock so played at all times of day and night
I am no fan in the least of russians but they are too easy a mark - before it was Poles then Germans, then French who got the grief as nations and typically by US players - my experience
I never bother with in game chat - unless someone is crying in English - then ask them if they want some tea and cake to have while throwing teddy in the window
The players most likely to just quit at the start of the game have been English speakers - at least they rant we are a looser team and so dont bother to move after saying that or suicide and say the likes of "Your going to loose wasters so I wont join you" amazingly we go on to win
The last whiner obnoxious player I had on my side quitting was a Leclerc T4 who when I checked their replay missed most shots in the PvE match - claimed we were all "Kill Stealers" in good English then sat at the back behind a rock sulking
I possibly get more grief than most will have directed at them as I fly Ukranian flags on my vehicles - and even then I see very very little cyrillic writing
There was a recent post I read that mentioned new maps/missions and that we were going to like them
So live in hope
To stop the game getting stale and samey for me - I am constantly trying different vehicles and classes - going different ways, , try new things with them - ee how much I can push them and where, where I would usually use an MBT, can I push with the OT 64 for example.
New maps atleast in PvP. Most of the maps if not all are still same ones since 2017.
There a lot things this game needs and I'm baffled that they haven't improved since years ago, like physics and some game mechanics.
Tanks/vehicles feels like they are just floating on the ground when you drive and even some really small rock or tree stump is made like full concrete steel house. It only takes 1mm of your tank hull to hit something and you lose all your speed because of that. Also it take one tiny little ditch you crossing with your tank and you can get stuck like grandmommy in snow with rollator. There are many other physics issues that doesn't feel good, but I skip that lecture for now..
After few years coming back from WoT and seeing the difference is like slap on the face. Back then I quit playing this game because of these things and when playerbase also went so small that you can barely find any PvP game under 5min.
I don't care much about PvE cause it feels too repetitive. I mostly play just the 2 x EXP for tanks. But they could indeed make some improve to PvE too and those Bots in PvP games are so bad..
I'll believe it when I see it, but yeah that's good news if true.
