sense of artillery?
I have a few question of artillery. Why the artillery....

...has so useless reticle? When player fires he doesn't know where it goes.
...can't fire indirectly? Artillery isn't tank destroyer.
...players can't choose method of firing? All of current self propelled artillery can fire directly and indirectly. When player would fire directly the sight would be the same as in case of tank and when he would fire indirectly the sight would be different (similar as current but much better).

It goes in the reticle just like any other tanks
You can fire indirectly? What do you mean
Artillery isn't tank destroyer, it's not meant to fire directly :)

I think what they are comparing to is WoT's two fire mode's with one being like a zoomed aimed fire mode with a smaller reticle and the mortar fire mode which is kinda the same as what armoured warfare has just now with the exception the shell doesn't travel in a higher arc.

I could be wrong but this was how I read that.

Why would you zoom
Yeah, I still don't see what you mean

the target would be far and you should choose the right hit point

You can use artillery in direct fire mode (which is how I use mine), you just cant do a zoom in so takes practice.

At one point (when the moaners got their way) artillery was removed from all modes for a while - it was reintroduced with zoom/sniper view as a tank destroyer with only direct fire - it was waaaay too powerful though so was removed again for a while and then brought back to PvE only with some changes (to how it is now)

In indirect fire you can see where they land, sometimes you get caught out by intervening terrain stopping the round in flight (buildings, landscape, even other vehicles).

During the changes it lost the illumination rounds (which were odd any way as they showed the enemy even when no one had any line of sight to the targets) but you got Phosphorous rounds instead (which I find more useful).

There were also plans to add mortar carriers into the game (models where in the game files for at least four and there was a public test of one vehicle but it never entered the game).

They would have been short range, high arc indirect fire weapons more useful in some terrain.

ok so let the artillery remove and it is, but if there is so I think it is nonsense not to add the possibility of indirect fire, which is the main task of artillery.

I rarely see Arty in matches, and my observation has been that Arty in this game isn't very effective or useful.

I know some guys like to play it, and that's fine, you should play however and whatever you enjoy, but in my experience the Arty guys almost always finish dead last in the team. That just wouldn't be fun or satisfying for me personally.

Hello, arty player here.

Let me explain:

- Artillery is more inaccurate because it shoots in a arch instead of fired forward. The reticle is still a chance where the round may go just like any other tanks reticle. I recommend getting the crew perk to shrink your reticle 10% smaller if you run into issues as it helps a lot.

- It has 3 methods of attack: Standard, which we can call "Shotgun" since you fire as if its a normal tank. This is used because sometimes you cant do anything in a map where you have no other choice, IE buildings and such. And WP (white phospherus) Round. Most people dont utilize this but is extremely helpful and OP in my opinion. It can help reveal hidden enemies that are not visible in the Fog of War by pinging 10~ damage. You can also finish off a enemy this way if the health remaining is less then 100. This special type of ammo makes your cannon aim for the sky, giving you a LOT more options to choose from that the normal artillery round simply cant hit, arch shot or shotgun. I personally ditch smoke rounds to max out WP Rounds. It also helps stop the enemy from capturing as it covers a large area, resetting the timer for all those that get pinged this way. The last method of attack is of course, artillery which utilizes the bird eye view of the map. This should be your main way of attack if possible as it keeps you the most safest and can help your players deal the most damage. **Keep in mind, to the left of your reticle, you need to account for airtime. Really long shots can take anywhere from almost instant to 3+ seconds! (across map shots)**

The above is the reason why I love playing it. If you must go shotgun arty, think outside the box and use your arch shot to your advantage. You can shoot over your teammates or over obsticles that would normally be impossible for any other straight shooting tank! In a decent match, I can get around 7 kills.

Hope this helps.

I only play arty occasionally and nearly always the Russian tier 6 or Chinese tier 7 in shotgun mode

Love being able to fire three rounds fairly rapid then lob a WP and pull back while all reloads, I dont bother with any other rounds - just standard HE and WP
