I have no idea why they do not want to allow the linking of old accounts, but I suspect its a money savings reason of some kind.
I stopped playing after they said no to linking accounts. 100$ in cash down the drain. Glad this game died yet somehow still gets updates, someone somewhere is throwing money into a dumpster, can't tell if it's players who support companies that screw their original player base or if it's some wealthy investment group looking for some tax break, either way I don't play because they refuse to respect us original players who gave them money in hopes this game becomes a hit. As Steam charts proves, it's far from a hit. And I know I am not the only player who also quit because of this issue. Foolish company made me look foolish gets no love anymore or ever again.
Before jumping on the rage wagon did you read the 4 year old original post
Due to issue with Steam - The standalone client accounts can not be merged with Steam accounts, nor can you use your Standalone account to log into the Steam version of the game
Oddly WoT is just one other game that also can not
The accounts they merged before were different regions so my NA account was merged with my EU account - all were merged with RU as well on the old EU servers in Amsterdam
You can of course add your stand alone client to Steam as a non steam game
Personally when I start my Steam version up all it does it starts up the AW launcher for me to launch the game
So all I am doing is adding more steps and using more resources to run the game - for no real benefit
